반려견 [발:려견 bahl-ryu-gyun] literally means companion (반려) dog (견 - hanja of 개) 🐶

Back in the day when there was less understanding about dogs, we used to call them 애완견 (hanja of dog to love and play with; perception that we raise a dog so we can love and play with like a toy). However, since a great number of people raise dogs indoor and consider them as family members nowadays in Korea, people prefer to refer dogs as 반려견 (hanja of dog as a friend and family who lives together).

It goes same for 애완동물 (pet) and 반려동물 (companion animal).

What is your favourite flavour of Candy cane (지팡이 사탕)? Personally mint flavour is my favourite! 🍬🍭💙

Candy is 사탕 [sa tang] and cane is 지팡이 [ji pang ee] in Korean.

It is very interesting to me that Korean think this object is a cane shaped candy so cane is adjective. However, it is perceived as a cane taste like candy so candy is adjective in English. (Please correct me if I am wrong 😁) Depends on language you speak you can perceive things differently. Thus, my final thought is that if I can see things in different perspectives my way to see the world will be so much more interesting 🌍
