Bond Guitars

Bond Star is a double-cut shape I designed right after the Bond Nox. Noticeable features include a bit offset body, an unusual approach to horns and the pickguard. Perfect for S-S-S, H-S-S or two humbucker applications, this body contour also has a non obvious benefit of being a modular guitar.

It means that all electronic components are attached exactly to the pickguard and a player doesn’t need to do any soldering to swap the whole system. My personal guitar is based on this exact body shape.

Straight from the Guitar Show in Bologna, the custom version of Bond NP is inspired by classical electric guitar models with humbuckers. Tradional nitro finish in Wine Red color immediately catches the eye. The guitar is equipped with Bond Custom Shop handwound PAF style Alnico V humbuckers, Hipshot hardware with high mass bridge and original pickguards, including a headstock cover. The wood here is a top-notch select roasted maple and ebony for the neck and air-dried mahogany for the body.

Bond NP is probably our most famous body contour. Used for different kinds of electric guitars and only once for a bass, this shape is quite an original approach to offset bodies. I started developing it in 2015 and it barely changed since then. I always get an amazing feedback from clients on guitars with this body shape when they try it in person. One of physical reasons for that is unusual fillets used to eliminate corners.

On the front side a quite defined fillet is used to emphasise the body contour. On the other hand, the rear contour fillet is really intense and totally removes the edge between the back of the body and the sides. This ensures a pleasant playing experience compared to traditional body shape like a tele, for example.

So, considering ongoing discussions about the Fender lawsuit, it feels like a perfect time to talk about my original body contours used for Bond Guitars. This remarkable single-cut is called Bond Nox. The first sketch of this shape was made back in 2012, and I refined the shape during the years.

Personally for me it’s a special one, I tend to use it for flagship custom shop builds and bass models. An interesting feature is the outward direction of the lower horn, rarely used by other builders. Please tell me your impressions in the comments.
