SAGAN Vienna is now presented at B1OCK DEPARTMENT STORE in Hangzhou.
The display stands are made from vintage wooden forms once used in Austria for kneading bread. We liked the idea of bringing these objects, with all their marks and patina, into a new context.
They are no longer used for what they were originally made for, but the traces of their former lives remain — bringing warmth, tactility and a quiet sense of history to the space.
A small piece of Austria, now finding a new place in Hangzhou.
To create the structure around these wooden forms, we worked with Philipp Reinsberg , who developed modular stands using traditional timber joinery.
The use of everyday objects from the past reflects SAGAN Vienna’s appreciation of craftsmanship, material integrity, and the beauty of objects shaped by time.
