Something rare is arriving at Jewels Of Thought Records.

As part of Make Music Day Adelaide, we’re honoured to welcome Noriko Tadano for an intimate live performance inside the space — a meeting point between Japanese traditional music and contemporary expression through the haunting beauty of the shamisen.

For one afternoon, the store transforms into something slower, deeper, and quietly transportive. Vinyl spinning softly. Coffee pouring all day. A room suspended somewhere between Adelaide and Tokyo.

Something rare is arriving at Jewels Of Thought Records.

We’re incredibly honoured to announce I’ll be performing at the Art Gallery of South Australia as part of Monet to Matisse: Friday Nights alongside the extraordinary Monet to Matisse: Defying Tradition exhibition.

To be invited into a space where music, visual art and human connection can dissolve into one experience feels deeply special to me.

For one evening we’ll soundtrack the gallery with ambient electronics, deep soul, psychedelic jazz and sounds collected from countless late nights digging through records across the world — somewhere between Tokyo after dark, Parisian dream states and the warmth of home.

These are the kinds of nights I live for.
Art on the walls.
Music in the air.
People slowing down together.

Would genuinely love to see familiar faces there.

Outside the world feels loud, fast, transactional.
Inside, the kettle keeps pouring.

All weekend from 10am we’ll be serving some of the finest coffees from around the world — rare coffees with impossible florals, deep sweetness, wild fruit and the kind of clarity that makes people briefly forget their phones exist.

But the coffee was never really the whole point.

Jewels Of Thought Records has always been about building a small universe, a home, a community for people who needed one.

TANAT arrived like contraband from another universe.

Not coffee. A transmission.

Fresh off the edge of France — from the minds behind one of Europe’s most revered independent coffee institutions and crowned among Europe’s best independent coffee roasters — these bags feel less like products and more like rare pressings discovered in the back room of a forgotten Parisian jazz bar at 2am.

Wild fruit. Fermentation. Precision bordering on obsession.
The kind of coffees that make you pause mid-sentence and stare into the cup like it owes you an explanation.

For a moment the entire store smelled like strawberry jam, dark florals, wine, static electricity and expensive perfume on a leather jacket.

Last Saturday felt like one of those strange beautiful days that disappears before you fully realise you were inside it.

Steam hanging in the air like cigarette smoke in an old Tokyo jazz bar.

Quiet conversations turning into loud laughter.
People leaning over cups like they were trying to decode memories hidden somewhere inside the coffee itself.

To ONA Coffee, to Rhys, and to every single person who walked through the doors — thank you.

What we witnessed wasn’t just a Brubar takeover.
It felt like a temporary world built around coffee, curiosity, and connection.
Filter brews cooling slowly between conversations.
Espressos disappearing almost as quickly as they hit the bench.

Strangers becoming familiar faces by the second cup.
People staying longer than they intended because the room felt warm in all the right ways.

There’s something incredibly special about watching a community gather around flavour, ritual, music, and shared experience in a world that increasingly asks us to move too fast.

We’re deeply grateful to have created that space with you all.

And trust us — this is only the beginning.
Another Brubar with one of our favourite Australian roasters is already quietly brewing in the background.
