Got these REMI vac formed kits from a mate a couple of years ago and finally bit the bullet and decided to build them.
One is the Water Mill and the other is an electricity transformer tower. Both very handy 1/35 scale size for my dioramas.
Now to paint ….

A powerful example of a British poem written by a soldier reflecting on the brutality and futility of war is “Vergissmeinnicht” (1942) by Keith Douglas.

Douglas was an English tank officer from the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry who fought in the North African Campaign. The poem was written after he encountered the body of a dead German soldier. Douglas was later killed during the Normandy Campaign at just 24.

The poem is striking because it does not celebrate victory; instead it highlights the shared humanity between enemies and the disturbing intimacy of death in war.

Wartime poetry captures the emotional and human realities of conflict in ways that official histories often cannot. Written by soldiers, civilians, and observers, it reflects fear, courage, loss, comradeship, and the longing for home. From the mud of the trenches to the vast deserts and shattered cities of war, poetry transforms personal experience into powerful imagery and reflection. Poets often confront the brutality and futility of war while honouring the resilience of those who endure it. Through simple words and vivid feeling, wartime poetry preserves the voices of those who lived through conflict, reminding later generations of both sacrifice and the profound cost of war.
