Self Made Marketplace - Who are we?

Since opening our new store in West End Plaza, we have had heaps of questions about who we are and what we do, so I thought I would get on here and explain the concept of our store and how it all works!

Across both locations, at West End Plaza and Lavington Square we have a total of 31 businesses with their creations in our stores, and in the coming weeks we will be introducing you to them across our socials.

These businesses are local, and their items are handmade. They pay a set weekly fee to be in the store, and every single sale they make goes to them. There’s no further fees or commissions taken off the top, so you can be assured that every dollar you spend in the store is going to the amazing makers and creators that fill our shelves.

It’s the old saying - When you buy from a small business you aren’t supporting a CEO to buy their next BMW or holiday home, or helping shareholder’s with dividends. You are supporting a family to pay for kids dance lessons, favourite team jerseys, pay their bills, or simply to put food on the table.

And when you buy from Self Made Marketplace, that is exactly what you are doing. You are supporting locals, and keeping the money you spend local.

I couldn’t be any more proud of the stores, or humbled by the businesses placing trust in us to sell their products for them.

I’m also truly grateful to the community that comes in to support the stores.
