Food for Thought - Book The book 'Food for Thought' is a collection of studies or devotions designed to feed the believer

Food for Thought is a collection of studies or devotions designed to feed the believer and give them something to think about. It takes the reader on a journey through the scriptures, touching on many aspects of the Christian Life. Food for Thought aims to motivate and call forth the best qualities in the reader; to challenge them to a deeper devotion to Christ, greater faith and a life of moral e

xcellence. Food for Thought Book One contains ninety individual studies that can be used as daily devotions, connect group studies, or personal study guides. The studies are designed to feed the reader the Word and stimulate their thinking so that they spend time meditating in the Word, digesting it and gaining their own revelation. Each daily study uses the basic structure (SOAP): scripture, observation, application, and prayer. In this manner, the reader gets to read a passage or several passages of scripture. They are provided with some commentary on the scripture they have read, the application of the scripture for daily living is expounded, and there is a Word-based prayer that can be used and meditated on during the day.

All truth has its origins in the answer to just one question: "Does God exist?" If the answer is yes, then God is Truth. If the answer is no, then there is no truth. All truth has as its basis absolutes. If there is no God, then there are no absolutes.

Man's significance, identity, security, provision, acceptance, and belonging were lost in the Garden of Eden when Adam sinned. They are only recovered through embracing the cross and the work of Christ. To be significant, to have identity, to enjoy security to have a sense of acceptance and belonging is entirely conditional upon embracing the grace that God has provided through Jesus.

Today's thought:
To love is to give to and to serve others in a manner that conveys a message of immense value worth and significance without placing any demand or having any expectation for anything to be given in return.

Giving and serving without conveying the message becomes a religious work that profits nothing. And, anything that seeks gratification is lust; not love.

Food for thought about grace:

Grace in all its forms is always the unmerited, undeserved and unearned kindness and favour of God. Common grace, saving grace, sanctifying grace, enabling grace, sustaining grace, are all unmerited, undeserved and unearned kindness and favour of God.
There is a distinction to be drawn between what grace is and what grace does. One aspect of grace is that it does divinely enable us to live a new life in Christ.

Unmerited means (Eph 2:8-9) a gift of God. It is the nail prints in his hands that gets us to heaven. Fathers bestow grace.

Undeserved (Rom 3:24) Being justified freely (undeservedly) by his grace (charis - har-reece) The cultural meaning of charis predates Scriptural use and is a benevolent gift from a superior to an inferior. It involves three persons Patron (giver), Client (receiver) and Broker (paid for the merchandise). Our Heavenly Father is the giver of grace, we are its receiver, Christ is our broker. Jesus paid the cost of grace in full.

Unearned means (Rom 11:6) and if by grace, then it is no longer works, otherwise grace is no longer grace, and if it’s works, it's no longer grace. Paraphrased, if its free, it's not earned, otherwise free is not free, if it's earned, it's not free, otherwise earned is not earned.

Dr Caroline Leaf explains: We merge with our environments because of the plasticity of our brains—essentially, our brains respond to our minds (our thinking/feeling/choosing). How we react to the circumstances of life, and whatever we focus on the most, will be wired into our brains and influence our mental and physical health, which in turn impacts our ability to recall information. We need to pay attention to our external and internal (thought) environments, because if we keep focusing on our toxic thoughts, they grow and damage the brain—memory issues are just one of the problems that can occur when we don’t pay attention to our thinking.

We all have Three seats in our heart. Love, fear and selfish ambition. Everything we think, do or say can be placed on one of these three seats. Things we refuse to do or don't do can also be placed on one of these three seats. Our goal should be to do everything from the seat of love.

Pride and selfishness go hand-in-hand. They both look after number-one first. Both practice idolatry - worship of self.
