Everyone talks about spring being the season of growth. The moss would like a word.

Winter is when the forest floor really starts showing off. Sporophytes, fresh growth, tiny droplets of water catching the light. Entire miniature worlds hidden in plain sight.

Look closer. The moss isn’t being quiet at all.

If you walked past these during the day, you’d probably never notice them.
But after dark, they glow.
Ghost fungi are one of Australia’s naturally bioluminescent species and finding them in my own backyard felt like discovering a hidden world I'd been walking past all along.
