Travelling through Cambodia was an incredible experience. The structures and places felt ancient, because I guess they are. I loved both the history and the mystery. This photograph was taken at the Bayon Temple, one that had changed hands from Buddhist to Hindu and back again. My understanding is that that makes the origins of this particular deity not exactly clear. However, this image to me represents a calm protective and safe presence, a connection to the ancients, the gods and the universe.
There was also for me a nostalgia based on my interests in Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider growing up…. There’ll be lot more content coming relating to my travels through Cambodia.

I first made a choker like this after doing a repair on one that turned out to be hollow, it ended up taking me longer to do the repair than I figured it would to make one from scratch… like most of my pieces it came to be through trial and error… and here it is paired with a pendant, featuring Larimar… a tropical feeling stone that reminds me of island getaways… the silver in this collection is made to look like old coins, with rough edges and patterns that are not completely clear…
I’m very happy with this collaboration between Bellingen locals, the photographer, clothing designer, the model and myself all calling these lands home….

These pieces are inspired by tales of lost treasure and tropical islands — relics of a world where the horizon was endless, the sea whispered secrets, and every storm carried the promise of discovery. Each design holds the spirit of the shipwrecked, the storm-tossed, and the treasure seekers who followed maps marked with nothing but faith and crossed bones.

Like the ocean, these jewels are both wild and timeless — forged in fire, cast in silver, and worn as if they were discovered in the belly of a sunken chest. This is jewellery for adventurers, drifters, and dreamers — for those who find freedom in salt spray and mystery in the stars.

This one carries a special story.
A couple came into The Silver Mill for a workshop to make each other’s rings. He had always dreamed of fossicking his own gold and sapphires to craft a ring from start to finish. On a trip through the gem fields, he did just that — collecting gold and rough sapphires to bring into the workshop.

The first attempt didn’t quite turn out as planned. But that didn’t stop us. We melted down the ring he made — still holding his gold — and reshaped it. A sapphire from our collection was added, and with Kris’ skilled hands reworking and setting the stone, his dream ring came to life.

The final piece is 9ct rose gold with a little of his own yellow gold mixed in — rugged, meaningful, and full of intent. A ring made by him, refined by us, and carrying all the magic of his journey.

It even turned out we shared friends and stories from years back, weaving even more connection into the piece. One of those full-circle moments I’ll never forget.

A few months ago a customer came in with an exciting project.
When he was a kid, he fossicked gold nuggets in Victoria. His mum kept them safe through every move and every chapter of life, always knowing exactly where they were.

We took those same nuggets — bright yellow, 22–24ct raw gold — anjd fused them into a sterling silver band. A one-of-a-kind texture was created using a variety of techniques, then finished with an oxidised patina to make the gold stand out even more. The result is a rugged, unique ring that could never be repeated.
