Something spooky is coming to Candy Kult Land...

After more than a year in the making, Spooky Tales with Boo Kitty is finally creeping onto YouTube with its first full-length tale, The Franken-Cupcake.

A twisted, kawaii-animated homage to classic monster cinema, The Franken-Cupcake drags you into the graveyards, laboratories and lightning-filled madness of old-school monster movies, with a twist of colour and cuteness...

Hosted by our resident vampire cat, Boo Kitty, this 23-minute animated horror-comedy follows Dr Pankenstein and his wildly unqualified assistant Toxic Kitten as they attempt to bring a cupcake monster to life.

There's just one problem.

The monster wakes with absolutely no idea who, or what, he's supposed to be.

What follows is a cute-spooky collision of mad science, identity crises, questionable decisions and one extremely distracting firefly, all wrapped inside a love letter to the classic monster films that helped define horror.
..And before the credits roll, a Candy Kult Land favourite will die.

The Franken-Cupcake is also the beginning of something much bigger.

Spooky Tales with Boo Kitty opens a new door into Candy Kult Land, with Boo Kitty as your guide through stories of monsters, curses, ghosts and folklore.

So dim the lights, grab something sweet and prepare to meet...

Tonight feels strange for me, A project I've been working on since last year is finally coming close.

As of tonight Spooky Tales with Boo Kitty: Franken Cupcake
has officially finished production 😭
It ended up being the longest animation I've made at 23 minutes.

This project has consumed my life for so long now... It's something I never dreamt of ever making when I started animating. I've given this more then I had, I've gone through all the stages of excitement, then suffering, then wondering if it was ever going to be finished lol to finally having a completed film 😊

This is a must watch for anyone who loves creepy cute this halloween season 🖤 It's sweet, fun, spooky and unexpected
(I've been trying hard to not drop any spoilers)

Can't wait to share it all with you soon

I’ve been a little quiet lately… because apparently making a short film takes FOREVER...... 💀

So here’s a tiny peek behind the scenes at how Boo Kitty comes to life 🖤 From recording her voice, cleaning and editing the audio, lip syncing, animating, compositing, camera work… going back because I fu**ed something up 😂… and finally rendering for ETERNITY..... oh how I'm sick of rendering at this point...

I’ve spent the last few months buried in the biggest animation I’ve ever made, but I’m finally crawling back out of the animation grave...

Spooky Tales with Boo Kitty: The Tale of the Franken Cupcake is coming VERY soon

And yes… it was made with A LOT of human misery... worth it...

Spooky Tales with Boo Kitty : The Tale Of the Franken Cupcake

It actually felt bizarre to finally create the poster for this short film. I've never done something this crazy... I wrote the script and started working on this last year. My runtime guess at the time was maybe 10 minutes +.... But ... to my horror... as I started animating and laying seconds down, the realisation of what I had committed to became very real...
The film is in fact.. still not finished... but the run time is going to be between 20 and 25 minutes... for animation made completely by one person.... that is insane...
I have suffered, not slept. Some nights I've been awake rendering at 2am just trying to get a scene across the finish line. 😂 I don't think you make a short film like this, you survive it... And it's actually extremely typical for me to stumble blindly into a 20+ production I wasn't at all prepared for..

So heres to the longest animation I've ever made. I look forward to finally sharing it with you next month
