🌳 The Story Behind Fig Tree Lane

Did you know the iconic fig tree that gives Fig Tree Lane its name is older than the shopping precinct itself by almost a century?

Standing proudly at the entrance on Kent Street, this heritage-listed Moreton Bay fig tree was planted way back in 1896 and has become one of Busselton’s most recognisable landmarks.

When Fig Tree Lane was developed in the late 1980s, the entire open-air shopping precinct was thoughtfully designed around this historic tree, preserving a piece of local history for future generations to enjoy.

Next time you’re strolling through Fig Tree Lane, take a moment to look up and appreciate the living piece of Busselton history that’s been watching over the town for more than 125 years.
