Hello Cairns Free Stuff followers :-)
Loving the little bit of rain (and no hail) we are getting. Cairns by day or night = an absolute joy.
I try to ensure that I am always posting positive, upbeat comments; when I get around to them. I will also endeavour to Post more regularly. However, I am feeling a little worse for wear this past week. We have also seen our fellow Queenslander's beaten down by a weather Super-cell, the likes of which haven't been seen for 30 years. There are thousands still without power. We are leading into the "wet season", and I hope we will be more fortunate. I hope this anomaly that won't be repeated.
As you will have noticed, Cairns Free Stuff too, has "put out the bat" for Phillip Hughes, a life taken far too soon, while doing something he loved. Although cricket can be dangerous when one steps up to the pitch, our sporting legends do this to fulfill their passion, their potential, and to entertain those who share in this passion. Thoughts and prayers to his family and to Sean Abbott.
None of us are exclusive to the pain of having a loved one taken from us either by disease or accident: or knowing someone who has had bad luck due to circumstances beyond their control. Life is so short; it should be so meaningful. The memories we make, make the difference. When we consider this, can we also consider 'putting our bats out' for those in need? Can we consider what we should do with those items that we no longer need/want?
Christmas is rolling towards us again. There has been a revival of "Bandaid", a new version recorded. I recall the first one, broadcast live around the world. The part that did, and still does, put tears in my eyes was "Do they know it's Christmas time at all?" Regardless of any religion or faith one may have, I interpret that as meaning: "do they even know what they DON'T have, and do we even know what we DO have". Too many countries have too many people who cannot even envision a website/page where one can just give away what we no longer need.
So once again, I am asking that when considering what presents you will be buying for your loved ones, consider first whether a 'clearing out' needs to be done within your home. What and how many bats can you provide for someone else to use/cherish?
A BIG SHOUT OUT to those who have and who are using this page. Please spread and share and invite your friends and family to "Like" us here at Cairns Free Stuff.
Cheers and smiles from Admindy.
