Cairns Free Stuff

Cairns Free Stuff Free stuff. Items you can't or don't have the time to sell, not worth selling but useful, no one to purchase what you have advertised. Place a notice here.

This is a page for people who have items that they want/need gone. Many of us have items that we no longer need/want, are slightly damaged but easily repaired or clothes we've grown out of. Many of other people may actually need/want or can repair these items or will fit what we no longer do :-) This page is dedicated to the adage "One man's meat (or trash) is another man's poison (or treasure).

There has been great success with this type of page globally. Many charities can also use items you no longer want or need. There are many people who through no fault of their own or due to economic hardships, have nothing nor even basic necessities. There are many young people, and spouses, who have had to leave an unstable home environment and walk away with nothing, who can benefit from your unwanted/needed items. Hotels/Resorts that have items no longer wanted/needed after renovations can post here. The only restriction here is that the items are not garbage. People who are interested can contact you to pick up, OR you can post your location and leave it out front for any interested party to collect on a first come first served basis. REDUCE, RE-USE, RECYCLE or RE-GIFT.
***This is not a site for people to post seriously damaged/not repairable items or rubbish. Please be considerate.

Hi Cairns Free Stuff followers! So it's been a while since we posted, but we're still here. There have been some questions around posting and we've discovered what has occurred; Facebook changed some of their settings on business/community pages and one was incorporating visitor posts to Admin posts in a feed. To access what someone has posted from the home page, just click Posts from the left hand column and then you can see a "Visitor Posts" access on the right hand side of that page. It had us confused as daylights as well, but we hope this resolves anything for you. Cheers, Admindy ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Happy May Day for tomorrow Cairns Free Stuff followers! Always a bonus to enjoy an extra day off, or penalty rates for those who have to work.

Please be sure to consider those less fortunate. Perhaps if you're having a garage sale this weekend, and you have things left over that you want to pass forward, remember this is the venue for it. It all helps. Winter is coming again, which is not a treat for some. Please take time for a once over through your belongings, and invite your friends to "Like" our page so we can reach as many people as possible to give the gift of giving.

On another note, I want to again confirm the ethos of our site which is not self-promotion or marketing. It is a place where those who do, and those who do not have can make fair exchanges to benefit each other.

Cheers to all
Admindy :-)

Hey Cairns Free Stuff followers :-) It's been a very long while since I have posted, but I just want to say a BIG thank-you for your support, and to those who have used the site. It is a great thing when we can provide for those who are in need; for whatever reason. Maybe they just like what you are offering, or maybe it makes a REAL difference in someone's life. Which-ever it is, it beats the day lights out of sending things to the rubbish tip.

We have rolled over the 500 Likes mark, and are on our way to our goal of 1000 by the end of the year. Let's show our support, and try to get the most exposure we can by sharing and liking when someone uses the site.

Let our maxim of goodwill, and our legacy when we pass on, be guided by the immortal words of Dickens:

"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known."
(context used with artistic licence).

Cheers to all,

Hello to Cairns Free Stuff followers, and the public in general.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, and all the best for the New Year to you and yours.

This year has been a challenge to beliefs and hope with so many tragedies; some unfortunate and some preventable. However, I firmly believe that there is so much that all of us can do to make this season and going forward into the New Year, amazing! For some, tomorrow signifies . The history or origin of Boxing Day stems from many sources. Some of them are as follows:

Why is it Called Boxing Day:
Arguments abound on the origins of the name Boxing Day, all of the answers here are relevant, so maybe it is all of them.

A โ€˜Christmas Boxโ€™ in Britain is a name for a Christmas present.

Boxing Day was a day off for servants and when they received a โ€˜Christmas Boxโ€™ from the master. The servants would also go home to give โ€˜Christmas Boxesโ€™ to their families.

A box to collect money for the poor was placed in on day then opened the next day.

Great sailing ships when setting sail would have a sealed box containing money on board for good luck.If the voyage were a success the box was given to a priest, opened at Christmas and the contents given to the poor.

All this said; what I hope this does, is helps those who need something. A meeting place for those who are 'packing up their boxes'; of things they no longer need, have use for, or have upgraded from. If we stopped and truly reflected over the last year about what we have left behind/tossed out, what picture would we see? Let's start off with others in mind, which is what this season is about. Let's spread the joy, share this vision with as many as we can. Let's see if others can rise to the , look to put .

I wish you all a fabulous 2015 and beyond!!!
Cheers,
Admindy

Hello Cairns Free Stuff followers :-)
Loving the little bit of rain (and no hail) we are getting. Cairns by day or night = an absolute joy.

I try to ensure that I am always posting positive, upbeat comments; when I get around to them. I will also endeavour to Post more regularly. However, I am feeling a little worse for wear this past week. We have also seen our fellow Queenslander's beaten down by a weather Super-cell, the likes of which haven't been seen for 30 years. There are thousands still without power. We are leading into the "wet season", and I hope we will be more fortunate. I hope this anomaly that won't be repeated.

As you will have noticed, Cairns Free Stuff too, has "put out the bat" for Phillip Hughes, a life taken far too soon, while doing something he loved. Although cricket can be dangerous when one steps up to the pitch, our sporting legends do this to fulfill their passion, their potential, and to entertain those who share in this passion. Thoughts and prayers to his family and to Sean Abbott.

None of us are exclusive to the pain of having a loved one taken from us either by disease or accident: or knowing someone who has had bad luck due to circumstances beyond their control. Life is so short; it should be so meaningful. The memories we make, make the difference. When we consider this, can we also consider 'putting our bats out' for those in need? Can we consider what we should do with those items that we no longer need/want?

Christmas is rolling towards us again. There has been a revival of "Bandaid", a new version recorded. I recall the first one, broadcast live around the world. The part that did, and still does, put tears in my eyes was "Do they know it's Christmas time at all?" Regardless of any religion or faith one may have, I interpret that as meaning: "do they even know what they DON'T have, and do we even know what we DO have". Too many countries have too many people who cannot even envision a website/page where one can just give away what we no longer need.

So once again, I am asking that when considering what presents you will be buying for your loved ones, consider first whether a 'clearing out' needs to be done within your home. What and how many bats can you provide for someone else to use/cherish?

A BIG SHOUT OUT to those who have and who are using this page. Please spread and share and invite your friends and family to "Like" us here at Cairns Free Stuff.

Cheers and smiles from Admindy.
