The Gospel of Louisiana wasn't just built in a barrel. It was built on over a decade of friendship between Tanguy Charbonnet and Romain Le Quilleuc β€” started in France, continued in Melbourne through a shared love of hospitality and good drinks. It was Romain who encouraged Tanguy to move to Melbourne. Years later, Tanguy is Australia's Best Bartender 2025 and a collaboration like this felt like a natural continuation of that journey. For Tanguy, The Gospel reflects the same focus on character, craftsmanship and authenticity that inspired this from the beginning β€” and so was the obvious choice.

One of Rye July’s most anticipated rituals. This year, Fill Your Bottle straight from the cask all month at Whisky & Alement.

Whisky & Alement has been a long-standing friend of The Gospel. This limited single cask rye whiskey was selected to celebrate that friendship and Rye July 2026.

No bookings. Just walk in, have a nip and bottle it. Indulge with The Gospel whiskey flight and boilermakers on the menu for Rye July while you are at it.

All July until sold out.Not just on the weekend, every day during open hours. Ask the bar staff.
Wed-Sat - 4pm to 1am

This release is our two obsessions bottled.
Nicks Wine Merchants is part of Melbourne's fabric since 1958, with over 1,300 whiskies and a range close to the biggest in the Southern Hemisphere.

Our latest Project Release was selected by Yuri Chlebnikowski, the fourth generation of the Nicks Wine Merchants family. A 100% rye, aged over 4 years in a World Cooperage American Oak barrel, bottled at cask strength.
