Tonight’s Coastal Environment Centre Northern Beaches Council talk is on BATS 🦇 - appropriate as we approach Halloween

But we LOVE bats and don’t think they are scary or creepy, and we are finding out lots about these ancient creatures.

Tips for planning a party for younger kids…

🌈 Keep it short; 1 or 2 hours max. Parties are exciting and also overwhelming - it’s best to go out on a high!

🌈 Don’t expect smaller kids to all sit down at eat at the same time. They may, but if not just embrace the chaos.

🌈 Be clear on the invite if you expect parents and caregivers to stay for the party. In my experience, it’s pretty common to stay with kids under 5 but it’s always nice to have clear guidance.

🌈 If planning games and activities, short simple games and crafts work best especially if there’s things they can explore and do if they fancy rather than trying to get everyone interested in participating in game all at the same time. In my experience, the only exception is a game of pass-the-parcel; kids will literally drop anything to join the circle for that game!

🌈 GET HELP! Setting up for a party and then managing the ensuing chaos is more than a job for even the most super party host. Recruit people who are confident dealing with younger kids or happy to get on with tasks such as setting up the food without too much guidance.

Borrowing a party kit for 30 kids saves a minimum of 180 disposable items from going to landfill. That’s quite a lot for just one party!

Party kits are designed to be used again and again, each time avoiding more waste.
They contain reusable plates, cups and lots more.
