From street litter to wearable art 🌊✨

We are so excited to welcome our newest brand partner, , to the Dezinery family!

Designer Secret Twincle collects discarded plastic bottle caps from local Sydney streets and community cleanups, hand-shredding and melting them into colorful, glossy earrings.

Her philosophy? "Art first, sustainability always." Each lightweight pair upcycles roughly two bottle caps - keeping plastic waste out of our oceans while adding a pop of vibrant color to your style. ♻️🎨

We caught up with Secret Twincle to chat about her 5-step handcrafted process, her inspiration, and her local upcycling workshops.

Did you know that plastics are officially the worst-performing waste category in Australia? 📉

According to the latest National Waste Report, our plastic recycling rate has stagnated at a dismal 12.5%. That means a massive 87.5% of all plastic generated down under goes straight to landfill. Even worse, our plastic waste is growing faster than our population.

But we aren't helpless here. The solution is moving away from virgin plastics and building a true circular economy right here at home.

We’ve just dropped a deep dive into the macro data—and the micro-solutions you can hold in your hands right now. From kids' swimwear intercepting 200g of plastic waste per suit to feather-light bags carrying 4kg of gear made from 100% rPET, local brands are proving that sustainable design doesn't mean sacrificing strength or style.

Let’s squeeze the plastic crisis from both ends. Read the full breakdown on the blog now! 🔄 Link in first comment.

Think you know your way around the yellow recycling bin? You might want to double-check the label. 🛑

Recent studies show that while 95% of Australians confidently sort their waste, over half of us are accidentally getting it wrong due to confusing rules and changing local council guidelines.

With voluntary targets officially out the window and mandatory new packaging regulations rolling out across Australia, we wanted to clear the air. Our latest blog breaks down the exact 2026 rules for the trickiest household items—like coffee cups, hand wash pumps, and chip packets—and reveals how hyper-local rules change depending on whether you're in NSW, Victoria, or Queensland.

But correct sorting is only half the battle. The real magic happens when we support the creators pulling that plastic out of the system to build incredible, high-end homewares and design pieces.

Think "Natural" always means "Sustainable"?

Think again. 🕵️‍♀️Did you know roughly 70% of bamboo fabric is produced using a chemical process involving sulfuric acid? Meanwhile, a rug made from recycled PET (plastic bottles) can reduce emissions by up to 75% compared to virgin plastic.

We’re moving past the buzzwords to look at the actual life-cycle impact of every thread. Check out our 5-step Anti-Greenwashing Checklist on the blog to see if your favorite pieces are built for the "Long Life" or just a "Short Trend".

Stop choosing between designer aesthetics and environmental impact.

When we bring plants into our homes, we do it to feel "green." But have you ever considered the carbon footprint of the pot itself? Traditional ceramic and concrete production are incredibly energy intensive: often relying on fossil-fuel powered kilns reaching 1,200°C.

Our latest blog explores why sustainable design is moving away from the kiln. We are also introducing our newest supplier: Potted.

These architectural planters are made from high-performance reclaimed plastics. They offer the sophisticated, matte, stone-look finish of heavy clay but are shatterproof, UV-resistant, and lightweight. It is luxury without the environmental weight.

Read the full story on the Dezinery blog and discover how we are retiring plastic from the ecosystem: one beautiful pot at a time.

This Easter, we’re looking past the chocolate and at the shell. Did you know that Australia’s 21 million hens produce roughly 6.6 billion eggs every year? That is an incredible amount of eggshell that—despite being compostable—is still predominantly treated as waste.

Globally, a staggering 6.4 million tonnes of eggshell waste ends up in landfills annually. We think there is a better way!

Enter the Shells Collection and Something Special Concept Store. By collecting hospitality waste and combining it with plant-based bio-resin, these innovators are turning breakfast scraps into stunning bio-homewares and stylish laptop tables.

Sustainable, durable, and uniquely Australian. Shop the collection at the link in our bio! 🌿
