We are loaded more than ever! Overstimulation can feel like:
Your clothes suddenly feel annoying.
Everyone is talking too much.
Being touched is a hard no.
One more question might finish you.
Even self-care feels like another job.
We get it.

To the dads carrying a lot —
we hope today asks a little less of you.

Less rushing.
Less doing.
Less fixing everything for everyone.

More sitting down, good food, and laughs.
More time with your people.
And maybe five minutes where nobody needs you for anything.

Happy Father’s Day to the dads, stepdads, grandads and father figures doing their best and carrying more than we sometimes see.

Today, we hope someone takes care of you.

Your body isn’t lazy. It’s overloaded.
Some days, even the small things can feel like a lot.

Showering. Moisturising. Cooking. Replying to messages. Choosing what to wear. When your body and brain are already running on empty, self-care should not become another job.

That is the space Nichi James is made for. Practical care for stressed bodies, busy senses, low-bandwidth days and real life.

No 10-step routines.
No wellness homework.
No bu****it.

Just products that feel good, do their job and ask very little from you.

Send this to someone running on 2%.

Sometimes the reset is this simple.

A warm lap.
A soft body.
A minute where nothing is asking anything from you.

No routine. No optimisation. No doing more.

Just a small cue to soften. That’s the kind of care we believe in at Nichi James.

Less noise. More ease. Care without the crap.

My body has enough bloody admin already.

Hypermobility. Autoimmune stuff. Pain. Sensory overload. Fatigue. A nervous system that occasionally decides WE’RE FULL before I’ve even finished the day.

So no, I don’t need my self-care becoming another job.

10 steps? No thanks.
A complicated ritual? Also no.
Another thing I’m supposed to be good at? Absolutely not.

Give me care that feels good, respects my senses, does its job and asks less of me.

Because when your body is already carrying a lot, care shouldn’t add to the load.

That’s a big part of the thinking behind Nichi James. Less performative self-care.
More “I’ve had enough for today” care.

Care without the crap.

I didn’t start Nichi James because the world needed another skincare brand.

I started it because I know what it’s like to live in a body that can already feel like it has enough already going on.

Hypermobility. Autoimmune illness. Pain. Sensory overload. Fatigue. A nervous system that can hit capacity pretty bloody quickly.

And when you’re already there, the last thing you need is your “self-care” becoming another job.

Another 10-step routine.
Another thing to remember.
Another product that feels awful on your skin.
Another expectation to somehow be doing wellness better.

No thanks.

Living in this body has changed the way I think about care.

I want products that feel good to use. That do their job. That consider the sensory experience as much as the skincare experience. And that don’t ask for a whole lot of time, energy or effort when you might not have much left to give.

Because sometimes looking after yourself doesn’t need to mean doing more.

Sometimes, it should ask less of you.

That’s a big part of why I’m building Nichi James.

There’s a reason your skin can seem fine one week… and suddenly reactive the next.

Stress. Hormonal shifts. Illness. Poor sleep. Overload. Flares. Life.

Your skin doesn’t exist separately from the rest of your body — and the connection between the skin and nervous system is something we’re really interested in at Nichi James.

It’s one of the reasons we’re building skin + body care a little differently.

Less about chasing perfect skin. More about understanding what real bodies are dealing with underneath it.

If your skin tends to flare when life does, you’re definitely our kind of people.

Follow along — we’re going to be talking a lot more about sensitive skin, nervous systems, psychodermatology and what happens when your body has simply had enough. 🤍

We talk a lot about sensitive skin, bodies and nervous system health. But not enough about what is going on the inside.

Stress. Hormones. Illness. Fatigue. Overstimulation. Flares. Just life.

All of these things can change how our skin feels and reacts.

That’s a big part of why I’m so interested in the connection between the skin, nervous system and the rest of the body — and why Nichi James is being built differently. So I’d love to hear from you.

When your body is overloaded, what does your skin do?

Does it get drier, itchier, more reactive, flushed, inflamed or just harder to settle?

Share below if you’re comfortable.

Your skin isn’t operating in its own little world.

It’s constantly communicating with your nervous system, immune system, hormones and the environment around you.

Which is why periods of stress, illness, hormonal change or nervous system overload can sometimes show up as skin that feels more reactive, itchy, flushed, inflamed or just… harder to settle.

This is where psychodermatology becomes really interesting — looking beyond what is happening on the surface and understanding the relationship between the skin, brain and body.

It’s also a big part of why we’re building Nichi James differently. Not just skincare for what skin looks like.Skin and body care that considers what your body is living through.
