First Birthday preparations are well underway for my book baby - Counting on You- AKA not a new release anymore 🐣They grow up WAY too fast 😭

To celebrate, I’ve got a few ideas up my sleeve- but first, please tell me what YOU want:

A) A % off sale?
B) A multiple book deal, BOGO style?
C) A whole new product I’ve had waiting in the wings?
D) For me to hurry up and tell you the BIG news I’ve been teasing you with for way too long?
E) All of the above?

Or is there some else altogether that I should be considering?

Apparently when you rack up enough frequent flyer points in your local Children’s Ward, they ask you to come on TV.

Launceston General Hospital’s Wombat Ward is a seriously special place. It’s one that feels like home, where we’re not just another family, but truly cared for. Most importantly, it’s a place my medically complex 3 year old feels safe and nurtured… to the point where he now begs me to take him there, he even makes up sicknesses so I’ll take him - “Mum I’m sick, I need to go to Wombat Ward, my bones are shaking”.

If you live in Northern Tasmania and have children, please show them this excellent video [You Tube - search -Wombat Ward]. It’s an initiative by the lovely staff at Wombat Ward, to help kids learn about what it might be like to go to hospital. If they watch it when they’re well, it could help them feel less anxious about it when they’re not well.

Send this to your Tassie friends with kids, help to spread the word 💜

I hope your Mother’s day brought you all the things your heart needed 💜

Handwritten reminders of why you keep going,
The earnest faces of the people that made you a mum,
Time with, remembering, or loving your own mum,
Some time to reflect on what an incredible, powerful difference you’re making,
Some fresh air,
Some sunlight through the leaves.

If you’re in NICU, or still recovering, I hope the same, and I hope you also had
Some worry free moments,
Reassurance,
Tiny fingers wrapped around yours,
A few breaths of non-hospital air,
Time with your other kids

I hope you know how valuable and valid and respected the work you do is.

All day, everyday, 8 days a week.

💜

Mother’s Day gift idea for the hard to buy for (or yourself 🤷🏽‍♀️): Donate a copy of my book- Counting on You, to ‘s Mothers Day gift bags for families with babies in NICU right now at The Grace Centre at Westmead or to NICU Families in Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick via NICU nurse Jane.

I can’t wait to get my book into the hands of NICU families, right when they need it most. Mother’s Day is an especially hard day for mums who can’t take their babies home yet, and who need to know they are loved and supported and doing beautiful things 💜
