HELP SAVE Australia - The National Library of Australia only has funding to run Trove until July 2023 and with ONLY 3 days left to sign the e-petition to Parliament to keep funding it.

is Australia’s national FREE portal for public access to Australia’s history & culture - where you can search more than 6 billion digital objects – newspapers, magazines, books, maps, images. The service connects people with collections across the country.

The petition is quick & easy, BUT be sure to make your signature count - complete the verification & check your email: https://www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/petition/EN4747

So we can keep on finding awesome parts of our history, just like this one on local WeFo.

With the factory manager's permission she collects unwanted packing-case nails and at the home of an art teacher welds them into sculpted pieces which have earned the praise of art critics throughout Australia. Credit: National Archives of Australia

We’ve had an ad-vantageous month with Green founder of Social - our special resident expert on Facebook and Instagram ads. During August she has taught how to really hone in and get the best out of a budget for adverts on facebook and instagram. You can find her posts in the guide tab of our group, here’s the summary of what she covered;

1 - Facebook/Instagram ads - why use them?
2 - Setting yourself up for success for facebook ads
3 - Facebook ads - Getting the right combination - Audience, Copy, Creative, Budget
4 - What is a sales funnel and how does it work to make me sales with facebook ads??

Thanks for these excellent insights Lucy! 😍

𝐌𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐀𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓 𝐋𝐔𝐂𝐘
Lucy from Berry Social creates, runs and manages Facebook/Instagram ads for small business owners. She helps to get businesses seen online.

Many people don’t have the time (or desire!) to do it themselves but understand the importance of running paid ads as part of their marketing strategy and that’s where Lucy can help.

She’ll guide you away from hitting that ‘boost’ button and instead help set up a strategy and ensure you’re targeting all areas of the sales funnel when running paid ads.

If you do want to learn how to run paid ads yourself, she offers a 1:1 service where she’ll teach you how to run them. Otherwise, you can step away and leave it all up to her to do! Lucy offers a FREE discovery call so you can discuss how paid ads would work for you.

She also has a beautiful community of small business owners in a private FB group where she shares many actionable tips and tricks for running your small business. Everything from Instagram & Facebook, to email marketing, time management, how to sell in general and everything in between!

During July, our resident expert on Award and Fair Work issues for SMEs and Retail was Nandi Segbedzi, founder of Emplex Lawyers & Consultants covered resources on EMPLOYMENT with topics such as;

Topic 1 – Wage rises
Topic 2 – Changes to Superannuation
Topic 3 – Casual Conversion – A Reminder
Topic 4 - Psychosocial Hazards – Mental Health at Work

You’ll find the posts in the guides tab no 5 *Business Resources* in the group.

A big thank-you to Nandi, for sharing your time and smarts.

ᴬᴮᴼᵁᵀ ᴺᴬᴺᴰᴵ
Nandi Segbedzi grew up in the shadow of the Newport Power Station, watching the sulphur flares at the Mobil Refinery and looking out for the Dockyard Mob leaving the Williamstown shipyards when the whistle blew in the afternoon. Though the Inner West is less industrial now, it’s not hard to see where she gained her fascination for how things – and people – work.

With 20 years of experience in the workplace relations legal space, Nandi stepped out of the City law firm rat-race in 2018 and established her own employment law firm - Emplex Lawyers & Consultants. She advises employers and organisations, providing top-tier lawfirm advice without the overheads, using a values-based, collaborative approach. Her clients, who include NFPs and SMEs in the manufacturing, transport, construction, hospitality and retail, have good businesses and want to be good employers. Practical and compassionate, Nandi will help you keep focussed on your strategic business priorities but also identify opportunities to increase flexibility, inclusion and meaningful work and enhance employee satisfaction.

Nandi is also Chair of a NFP social housing provider, Abbeyfield Australia, which operates 23 houses for older people and young people with intellectual disabilities, including North Melbourne, Richmond, Frankston and Croydon.

We’ve had a fabulous month with Suzanne Alexander founder of Mindful Finances, she is a financial coach and mentor. Suzanne was our local guest Resident Expert during June - helping us on PRICING for our *Business Resources*. She posed excellent questions, to really help tease out answers to better help you understand your value.

You can find them in our group’s guide - tab 5 'Business Resources', key topics she uncovered;
*Understanding your money beliefs
*Money blocks
*Common pricing strategies
*Psychology of pricing

𝓐𝓫𝓸𝓾𝓽 𝓢𝓾𝔃𝓪𝓷𝓷𝓮
With over 15 years experience in finance, Suzanne Alexander is the Founder and Certified Financial Coach at Mindful Finances. Suzanne is passionate about helping women take control of their finances and build strong financial foundations. Something that’s always surprised her is how much pressure we put on ourselves around what we SHOULD know about money. When we think about it, it’s not something we really learn about in school. Everything we know about money we’ve learned from our own experiences and the experiences of the family we grew up in. These inturn shape our beliefs, thoughts and feelings to create a mindset around money that doesn’t always serve us. It doesn’t have to be this way.

Suzanne absolutely loves seeing women transform their relationship with money, especially as this flows into so many areas of their life including increasing their worth which reflects in their pricing. Suzanne herself has undergone her own money mindset transformation from one of scarcity and lacking to that of an abundance mindset.

A former financial adviser of 8 years, Suzanne has worked with hundreds of clients. During this time she was able to identify that clients beliefs were having a big impact on their wealth strategy outcomes. Our beliefs and mindset play a significant role into why some people who come into windfalls of money can be broke within a couple of years whilst others can easily come back from bankruptcy.

Sales & Community Building was May’s *Business Resources* focus. We were so very much appreciative that Peta-Gai McLaughlin joined us as our Resident Expert. 💖

Peta-Gai is Founder & CEO of Iridis Cosmetics - 'Makeup Made Simple', she’s known affectionately as PG, as parental guidance is recommended!

She crafted detailed insights using great examples from her business, find them in our group guides - tab 5 'Business Resources', they cover;

❓ SALES – ask allllll the questions
🤩 SALES – Build your Profile!
👭 Building your Community
🛍 Successful Sales Begin In Your Head – Managing Your Mindset

Be sure to read to very end of today's post for a delightful surprise (Thanks PG you're awesome! 💋 💋)

𝘼𝘽𝙊𝙐𝙏 𝙋𝙀𝙏𝘼-𝙂𝘼𝙄 𝙈𝘾𝙇𝘼𝙐𝙂𝙃𝙇𝙄𝙉
With 28 years experience in makeup, Peta-Gai McLaughlin is the Founder, CEO and Principal Hair & Makeup Artist of Iridis Cosmetics. PG is impassioned by magic that happens with a great makeover - when women and teens see their external beauty reflected internally. She loves seeing how makeup can highlight a person’s worth, their unique talents and increase their self-esteem and confidence. Highlighting this sense of self worth, Peta-Gai designed Iridis to use the power of makeup to teach her clients how to identify their characteristics that make them feel most beautiful, and how to enhance those features with makeup.

A former financial services lawyer of 17 years, PG envisioned the idea & ethos of her makeup brand in 2008, just as the Global Financial Crisis was in full swing. Whilst working as a lawyer, running a $90 Million super fund, she set about creating her business. Four years in, she built her business after hours, and finally quit law to run Iridis in 2015. At that point, her team grew from 3 Makeup Artists to 15!

She has sold $3M + of her products, built a loyal and committed community in the inner west and nationally, thanks to her team of Makeup Artists teaching the Iridis way. PG didn’t let covid stop her, and made the strategic move of introducing beauty services and a skincare affiliation with the brand, as well as further expansion with The Iridis Academy and eCourses.
