As part of the major refit of MV Sea Breeze, Taylor Marine Exhaust was engaged to manufacture a complete set of wet exhaust silencers to complement the vessel's new propulsion package.

Owned and operated by SeaLink, the 50-metre car ferry is capable of carrying up to 60 vehicles and 300 passengers. She is currently undergoing a significant overhaul before returning to service on the North Stradbroke Island route in South East Queensland, including the installation of four new Scania DI13 072M 650 hp main engines and two new Cummins 6BT eco diesel generator sets.

To match the upgraded machinery, Taylor Marine Exhaust supplied custom Water Lift Dual Chamber Silencers for both the main engines and gensets. Every unit was individually engineered to minimise exhaust noise, reduce engine back pressure and optimise fuel efficiency, while delivering the durability required for continuous commercial service.

Manufactured in Australia using premium fire-retardant, glass-reinforced vinyl ester composites, these heavy-duty systems are built to withstand harsh marine environments while providing dependable, maintenance-free performance for years to come.

We're proud to support another significant Australian commercial marine refit and look forward to seeing MV Sea Breeze return to service.

Taylor Marine Exhaust proudly designed and manufactured the custom Water Lift Dual Chamber Mufflers installed across all four 14.2-metre XLW Class Pilot Boats built by Norman R. Wright & Sons for PNG Ports Corporation, including the recently completed Taubar II.

Designed for exceptional seakeeping, stability and reliability in demanding operating conditions, these specialised pilot boats required an exhaust solution that delivered low noise, minimal back pressure and maximum engine performance. Manufactured from our premium, fire-retardant, glass-reinforced vinyl ester composites, the custom-engineered mufflers exceed these requirements while providing exceptional durability, corrosion resistance and long-term reliability in harsh marine environments.

Powered by twin Scania DI13 070M 500 hp marine diesel engines, these highly capable pilot boats play an essential role in safely transferring marine pilots to and from ships throughout Papua New Guinea.

We're proud to contribute to another outstanding Australian-built fleet of specialised commercial vessels.

Congratulations Oroton Drumfire, for finishing 32nd overall out of the 128 starters in the 80th Sydney to Hobart yacht race and 3rd place in the IRC Division👍

The eye-catching Oroton Drumfire, skippered by Phillip Neil, normally sails the race under PHS, but went IRC for the 80th. She placed second on PHS and won Division 1 last year and won PHS and Division 1 in 2023. Before that, she did the race in 2021, the 75th race in 2019 and in 2018, with updated rigging, sails and other modifications.

Beautiful Oroton Drumfire, when not sailing, relies and depends upon premium custom made Taylor vinyl ester wet exhaust systems for the main engine and auxiliary genset.

A Hoek design, the 24-metre Drumfire is named for the long-distance desert racehorse of the same name. This luxury yacht’s exterior and interior are beautifully kept, and her timber interior has been personally designed. She features a double cockpit and double coach roof and was brought to Australia in 2015. For the Hobart, Neil has quite a job removing the added luxuries - so she can sail well to her rating - restoring her to splendour afterwards.

Nearly seven years ago, we were asked by Aus Ships to design and make custom made vinyl ester wet exhaust systems for the brand new 4th generation Brisbane River City Cats.
The brief from Rob Mulrine at Aus Ships was simple: must be as quiet as possible with maximum engine efficiency and performance.
Taylor Marine Exhaust Solutions exceeded all expectations with our proven vinyl ester water lift dual chamber separator silencer concepts.
Main engines used are the very reliable Cummins 700hp QSM 11. The ferries are 27m long, carry 170 passengers and have a top cruising speed of 25 knots.
The 10th ferry was just launched last month, November 2025.
These latest state of the art ferries are a fantastic achievement, designed and built in house at Aus Ships in Brisbane to Lloyd's and AMSA survey requirements. It was a pleasure to work closely with their naval architects and boat builders for best outcomes possible.
Thank you, Rob Mulrine, we're looking forward for future ferries to be built by Aus Ships with the 2032 Brisbane Olympics not far away.

The 10 fourth generation City Cat ferries built by Aus Ships in order:
