Paneng - Na Pi Lu "Face of the Ghost Eater" made and blessed by the Great Prai Sorcerer and Master of Spirit's - Ajarn Kitkamo of Somnak Payak Burapa in Chonburi Thailand. For sale $100 aud includes shipping.

On the front of the Paneng we see the hand carved face of the Demon Hunter and Ghost Eater known as Pi Lu. The image of Pi Lu's face is thought to ward off all evil spirit's for fear of being eaten. A putty was made from prai powders and high density adhesive to fill the back of the Paneng.

The Coin we see in the back is Thai Currency of one baht. It is called "Ngern Pak Phee" or "money from the co**se". In Thailand there is a long held tradition to place a one baht coin into the mouth of the dead to pay the undertaker for cremation (in the old days the one baht coin was very valuable). After Ajarn Kitkamo (the undertaker) fully incinerates the body he must collect the one baht coin from the ash's because in the process it has become a powerful tool used to control Ghost's.

In Buddhism the one baht coin is also symbolic of the fact that you will not be able to take any treasure or money with you to the next life, the only thing that will follow you is the karma that you have accumulated. They say your Karma will follow like a shadow after you shed the body.

Pi Lu is often mistaken for Thao Wessuwan. Pi Lu is actually a member of Thao Wessuwan's Legion of Demon Hunter's. In the ancient Hilltribe Script it's written that Pi Lu is a Ghost Eater. It's said that Ghost's are terrified of Pi Lu and you can use him to control spirit's that may be around. In the old days Hilltribe Monk's would inscribe Pi Lu's face onto the Paneng (skull bone) in order to Lock the powerful spirit inside, while reaping the benefits of possessing the Mystical piece of bone. Pi Lu can also remove all Black Magic, Curses and Negative Emotion because he eats these things like food.

Paneng - Chuchok "The Brahmin Begger that Always Gets What He Wants". Made and blessed by the great Prai Master Ajarn Kitkamo of somnac Payak Burupa in Chonburi Thailand. For sale $120 aud includes shipping.

The Original Story of Chuchok is from the Vessantara Jātaka. A Jataka is a story of one of the past lives of Buddha. The Vessantara Jātaka tells the story of Buddha's past life as a very compassionate and generous prince named Vessantara, who gives away everything he owns, including his children, thereby displaying the virtue of perfect generosity.

The story says that Prince Vessantara (Bodhisattva, future Buddha) gave away his thrown to support his father. He gave away all wealth and left the kingdom. While traveling he gave away the chariot and finally the horse. Vessantara took his family to live a ascetic life on a mountain in a neighbouring kingdom.

Chuchok who is originally known as "Jujaka" in India, is an old Brahmin begger, he is dirty and ugly but he has a young and beautiful wife named Amittada who took really good care of him. One day the other women beat Amittada up at the well because they were jealous of her beauty. She would not go to the well for him anymore so Jujaka snuck onto the mountain and asked the Prince Vessantara for his family.

Jujaka the dirty begger immediately tethered the hands with vines and lead the family through the forest like cattle. The Devas saw this and made Jujaka take a wrong turn leading him directly into Prince Vessantara's original kingdom. The King (Vessantara's father) desperately agreed to buy the children back from Jujaka for a extremely steep price.

Jujaka immediately became rich. He was now the owner of much of the kingdom. He had his new maiden's prepare a royal feast. The maiden's were feeding Jujaka, the food was so delicious and delightful that he could not stop eating and eventually his stomach burst open. The dirty old Brahmin died but was reincarnated as a Deva because he helped the Buddha.

KumanThong "Ghost amulet" Roon Rek; first series made and blessed by Ajarn Tern of Doi Lo Chiang Mai Thailand. For sale $65 aud (inc postage). Great price for this High Level Prai amulet. Extremely well made by a powerful young monk

This is Ajarn Tern's first series of KumanThong amulet. The amulet is made with the "Pong Prai Kuman" or 'spiritual powder' of the golden boy. On the back of the amulet we see the bone of the mother "Nong Ploy" inlaid. This is all ancient magic and might seem cruel or black but this is the way old day master's would exorcise the angry Ghost, to prevent or stop haunting of certain locations or people in the consciousness of the Ghost. This is the white magic, to spell a angry ghost to become a guardian angel of sorts, so that it can one day reincarnate and start life again.

Khun Paen Pong Prai Kuman made and blessed by by Nen Tern of Doi Lo Chiang Mai, Thailand. For sale $65 aud (inc postage).

Based on old legends, Khun Paen was a handsome ladies man. Although he had many wives, many ladies continued to fall in love with him. Khun Paen was a powerful sorcerer and a master of mantras and formulas with supernatural power. He used magic to make himself invisible and unseen on the battlefield. Khun Paen was also notorious for commanding angry and horrifying ghosts to attack enemies while at war.

Khun Paen was also the first Sorcerer who created Kuman Tong. He removed the dead baby from the womb of the dead Bua Klee, one of his wives, and took the kuman to the Temple's outer area within the chanting hall where the Buddha image is placed (this must be done under the gaze of the Buddha). The Temple and its outer area are so sacred place that no mighty ghosts or spirits can enter. Based on the legend descriptions, Khun Paen was chanting some sacred mantras to invoke the spirit of Kuman Tong while roasting the dead baby on the fire. Khun Paen would come to use the Kuman spirit to defend him against enemies, act as spy's and bring him money.

Mae Nak Phra Khanong or simply Mae Nak or Nang Nak, is a well-known Thai female ghost. According to folklore the story is based on events that took place during the reign of King Rama IV.

The story is an interesting one, to summarise it for this post; Mae Naks husband Tid Mak is conscripted to go to war. While he is away Mae Nak dies during a difficult child birth. When Tid Mak returns to his village he is greeted by his wife and their new born child. Tid Maks neighbours try to warn him that Mae Nak and his child are actually ghosts.

One day when Mae Nak is preparing a meal she drops a lime and reaches out to catch it, however the lime passes straight through her hand. Tid Mak witnesses this and attempts to leave without alarming her. Tid Mak flees to a temple where Mae Nak can’t enter, however she begins to terrorise the village people. A powerful exorcist is is called to capture Mae Naks spirit and she is confined in a earthen jar.

A shrine to Mae Nak is located next to Klong Phra Khanong, at Wat Mahabut, Bangkok.
