Why We Started Rock Painting at Exquisitive Designs!
We wanted to bring something to our market stall that's simple, joyful, and open to absolutely everyone — and rock painting ticked every box.
No easels, no big sets of paints, no mess to clean up afterwards. Just a rock, a paint pen (or two), and your imagination. That's it! It's the kind of creative outlet that strips painting back to what it should be — relaxing, low-pressure, and fun — without needing to haul out all the usual art supplies. Perfect for a quick sit-down at the market, whether you've got 5 minutes or 50.
And it's for everyone. Toddlers, teens, grandparents, first-timers who "can't draw" — rock painting doesn't care. There's no wrong way to do it.
But here's the part we love most: the community behind it.
Once you've painted your rock, you don't have to keep it! Many painted rocks get hidden around parks, trails, and neighbourhoods for someone else to stumble across — a little surprise of colour and kindness in someone's day. Find one, keep it or re-hide it for the next person to discover. It's a tiny chain of joy that keeps going long after the market's packed up.
So this coming market, we're bringing rock painting out for everyone to enjoy. Come sit down, paint a rock, take it home — or set it free into the world for someone else to find.
