There’s something extra special about casting on a piece for someone you care about 🤎

Tomorrow I'll start working on the newest Wattle Lane design — The Woodland Stripe Duster — for a dear friend, and I already know this one is going to carry so much heart in every stitch.

Inspired by old country cottages, weathered fence posts, old chipped mugs warming cold hands, and the kind of handmade comfort that waits quietly by the door after a long day. The stripes are intentionally mismatched, like little collected memories woven together over time 🍂

Soft earth tones, slow evenings, warm cups of tea, and many, many rows ahead.

This is the kind of make that reminds me why I love creating so much — thoughtful pieces made to be worn often, lived in fully, and treasured for years to come.

Finally Keeping a Little Bit of the Magic for Myself! ✨🧶

​After 30+ years of knitting for family, friends, and gifts, I have a confession to make: I have finally, for the very first time, finished a piece for ME.

​For three decades, my needles have been busy making sure everyone else stayed warm. I’ve loved every stitch I’ve given away, but there is something so incredibly special about finally sliding into a sweater that I made with my own two hands, specifically for my own closet.

​This taupe waffle-knit beauty is officially my new favourite thing. It represents 30 years of practice, a lot of patience, and a little reminder that it’s okay to be at the top of your own gift list sometimes!

​I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Now, if you need me, I’ll be living in this cozy masterpiece for the foreseeable future. 😍

As the air turns crisp outside, I’m finding so much peace in the simple "clickity-clack" of the stitches. It’s been a little quiet here at Wattle Lane lately, and I wanted to gently share why 🤎

Over the past little while, life asked me to slow down. I’ve been navigating chemotherapy and focusing on healing, resting, and taking care of myself day by day. Some days have been harder than others, and social media simply had to take a back seat for a while.

But even in the quiet, Wattle Lane never left my heart ✨

Behind the scenes, I’ve still been creating — sketching ideas, knitting tiny personalities into life, dreaming up new characters, new stories, and new cosy little pieces that feel full of comfort and warmth. Creating has been such a soft place for me during this season.

I’m slowly finding my way back, at my own pace, with a grateful heart and plenty of new friends from Wattle Lane waiting to meet you all 🧵🐑🧸

Thank you for your kindness, patience, and for staying here with me while I’ve been quieter than usual. It truly means more than you know.
