The Creative Directory is being created to showcase the talented people, organisations and businesses contributing to the region’s creative community.

It is not only for artists. The directory welcomes a wide range of creative professionals, including makers, photographers, designers, cultural practitioners, galleries, arts organisations, workshop facilitators and other creative service providers.

Whether you create, teach, organise or support creative experiences, this is a place to help people discover your work and connect with what you offer.

Pilbara Art Collective is building a central hub where locals, visitors and collaborators can discover the creative talent that makes this region unique.

Wonderful to see Pilbara artists represented at Desert Mob 2026 ✨

Congratulations to the Martumili Artists exhibiting at this year’s Desert Mob in Mparntwe (Alice Springs).

It’s fantastic to see artists from our region sharing their work and stories on such an important national platform. ❤️

Desert Mob is back!

We are thrilled to share that Ngamaru Bidu, Cyril Whyoulter, Matthew Mintern, Kumpaya Girgirba, Doreen Chapman and May Chapman are featured in the Desert Mob exhibition at Araluen Arts Centre in Mparntwe, Alice Springs, which runs from 10 September – 25 October.

If you're in Mparntwe, don't miss the opening night this Thursday at 6pm - bring your friends and soak up the energy!

Then join us at the art market on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm, where we’ll be selling works by the exhibiting artists and many more.

Meet Jasmine Cooper, the self-taught watercolour artist behind Pindan Art Studio in Karratha.

Inspired by her lifelong love of horses, wildlife and the ocean, Jasmine creates expressive animal portraits that capture the beauty, spirit and individual character of each subject.

Her collection includes whales, whale sharks, horses, native wildlife and much-loved animals, all brought to life through delicate detail and flowing watercolour washes.

Jasmine has joined the collective with a beautiful range of blank greeting cards featuring her original artwork, perfect for gifting, sending or framing as a small piece of art.

A little more art to love in Onslow 💙

Onslow’s foreshore has welcomed another playful piece of public art, with The Table of Love by internationally recognised artist duo Gillie and Marc now taking its place within the revitalised ANZAC Park precinct.

Featuring the artists’ much-loved Dogman and Rabbitwoman seated together at a table, the bronze sculpture has been designed as an interactive gathering place — somewhere to sit, take in the view and become part of the artwork yourself.

It also feels perfectly at home in Onslow, joining Gillie and Marc’s wonderful Paparazzi Dogs already positioned along the foreshore. Installed in 2021, the four bronze Dogmen were positioned with their cameras facing the coast, capturing Onslow’s spectacular sunrises and famous Stairway to the Moon.

Together, these works are a lovely example of how public art can create memorable places, encourage people to stop and explore, and add another layer to the identity of a town.

And there is more to come across the Shire of Ashburton, with its Public Art Master Plan setting a longer-term direction for public art across Onslow, Tom Price, Paraburdoo and Pannawonica. The plan includes opportunities for art trails, wayfinding, interactive artworks and new works in prominent community spaces, helping to strengthen local identity and connection to place.

And of course, The Table of Love and Onslow’s Paparazzi Dogs have now been added to the Pilbara Art Collective Art Map 📍🎨

We’re continuing to grow the map as a way to discover public art, galleries, creative spaces, cultural places and arts experiences right across the Pilbara — helping locals and visitors explore just how much creativity there is to find across our incredible region.

From public art and galleries to studios, workshops and cultural spaces, the map will celebrate the people and places that contribute to the Pilbara’s creative landscape.

We’re continuing to discover new locations and creative stories to include, creating a resource that encourages people to explore, connect and experience the region in a new way.

✨ The Pilbara Art Collective website is now live! ✨

After months of planning, building, connecting and plenty of last-minute problem solving, we’re so excited to finally open the doors to the Pilbara Art Collective online.

This is our soft launch, so while we’re making a few final refinements, you can now jump in, have a look around and see what PAC is all about.

Discover Pilbara artists and makers, shop local art, explore the Pilbara Art Map, find creative places and events, and connect with the incredible creativity happening across our region.

Most of all, PAC is about supporting Pilbara arts and creating a place where our creative community can be seen, discovered and celebrated.

As we settle into launch, we’re also continuing to refine a few behind-the-scenes settings, including postage across our different artists and products, to make sure everything works as smoothly as possible.

A very special thank you to Vanessa Murray from Shut the Front Door for jumping in and being such a huge help with some of the technical issues — and for continuing to help us work through the final website tweaks. Your support has been incredibly appreciated.

A big thank you too to Indra, who is such an important part of the PAC team and quietly gets so much done behind the scenes. And to Elysia Canning and Melanie Wann Johnston, thank you for your inspiration, encouragement and for being part of the thinking and energy behind this journey.

And to the Pilbara arts community — I really can’t express how special it is to have your trust and support. It’s a community I feel incredibly privileged to work alongside, learn from and simply be in the presence of. The generosity, creativity and willingness to support one another is something very special, and I don’t take that trust for granted.

PAC would not be what it is without the artists, makers, creatives and supporters who have come on board, shared their work and believed in what we’re building. Thank you for being part of this journey.

We’re so excited for what comes next — new projects, collaborations, creative opportunities and plenty more ways to celebrate, connect and support arts across the Pilbara.

Across the Pilbara, painted water tanks are transforming essential infrastructure into colourful community landmarks.

So far, we’ve identified examples in Onslow, Karratha, Port Hedland and Marble Bar, but we know there are more waiting to be discovered.
