‘For Daniel, my favourite husband’ [never before have a seen an opening dedication so perfectly matched to a book].
🩵

My beautiful 12 year old daughter picked this book out for me as a birthday present in March, she deliberated over many other books in selecting it and saw this one and said to my husband ‘This is it. Mum loves keys’.

Truth is - I never would have picked this myself (aside from perhaps the key imagery) - I rarely seek out thrillers, but I think my daughter was onto something (whether she realised it or not!). I loved it and turned pages like my life depended on it, especially in the opening chapters.

Whilst the key on the cover was the main reason this book of endless twists, turns and thrills landed in my lap, the thrilling twisting storytelling captivated and held my attention immediately.

The mystery of the wife unable to get back into her home and then disappearing; the husband with a new - or past? - wife who looks almost identical to her; the police investigator who arrives with her dark past and (seemingly) tough-guy approach to all who she crosses paths with; the house at the centre of it all and with a fitting name to boot (‘Spyglass’) and a town named appropriately and equally ironically (‘Hope Falls’)…..

✨4.5 stars✨

This book took me only 5 days to read - my quickest read in years!

Thank you to for gifting me this book recently at our Soul-led retreat (accompanied in this pic with my gorgeous kookaburra tote from ) - after giving me the choice of a very wide range from her expansive bookshelf! I chose Wild by Kristin Hannah as I recently read The Nightingale and loved it. I wasn’t disappointed.

Wild had me hooked right from the opening chapter. Equally suspenseful and shocking, I found myself needing to know about the 6 year old ‘Wild’ girl they name ‘Alice’ and her ‘pet’ wolf pup. The mystery surrounding her arrival in the small town of Rain Valley was a compelling page turner…..

🍃 Every now and then a book comes along, sweeps me off my feet and my heart sings with hope - Walden by Henry David Thoreau (originally published in 1845) is now at the very top of these types of books! 🍃

🧡Khaki Town by Judy Nunn🧡
Having watched Home and Away since I was about 7 years old, I could never quite get past Judy Nunn being a writer - to me she was always Ailsa Stewart! So when I picked up this book at Fiji airport for our trip home I wasn’t sure what to expect - but 70 pages in and I’m really loving it! I feel connected in with the characters lives already and love how it’s based on otherwise unknown (and true) historical events. RTC !
