Black Sapote 🍫 (chocolate pudding fruit)
The best kind of chocolate is the one growing on your own trees 🙌 Our quilt free healthy pleasure, full of fibre, vitamin C and antioxidants 🤎
And it’s not just us who likes it, when I’m missing one of our dogs I know where to find her 😋
The birds also love to eat the ripe fruit from the trees and we don’t mind sharing as I’ve been late with picking this year. The best time to pick is when the fruit is still hard and the calyx has ever so slightly lifted away from the fruit. This indicates that the fruit will ripen after being picked. It turns from bright yellow/ green to a darker olive black/ green and gets all soft and mushy. That’s when the inside pulp tastes like a delicious chocolate pudding treat 👌
I’m at the moment processing the fruit that was left on the trees, as it ripens, to stock up our freezer. Check out the last couple of slides for how I find it the easiest to get the most pulp from each fruit.
