Seen the new Starlink V5 yet? It's a smaller and lighter replacement for the Standard dish, with roughly half the power draw, and a wind rating that jumps to 265 kph. Impressive bit of kit.

One thing it is NOT: a travel dish. No DC power, no in-motion rating, residential plans only. If your Starlink lives on a caravan, a ute tray or a camp table, the Mini is still the one, and nothing about this launch changes that.

Well... Starlink just hit us with price increases across every Australian plan. Effective from your billing cycle on or after 18 June 2026.

Roam 100GB: $80 → $85
Standby: $8.50 → $15
Unlimited: $195 → $210
Residential plans copping it too.

"How do I get my Starlink Mini onto Standby without paying $80 first?"

It's a very common question and the answer depends entirely on WHERE you bought your Mini.

We've updated our guide and flowchart with the latest info - you CAN activate directly onto Standby by changing your plan before first power-on 👇 (tap the image and pinch to zoom for full detail)

🔶 Bought direct from Starlink? Log in and change to Standby before you plug it in. You've got 7 days before auto-activation kicks in (changed from 30 days in Feb 2026)
