The Bright and the Beautiful: LeBatts Prime

While itโ€™s easy to fall into the soft, romantic spell of blush and neutral tones, this week weโ€™re stepping into the spotlight with pure, unabashed BOLD energy!

I know Iโ€™ve featured this beauty before, but with tuber sales now well underway, LeBatts Prime simply demands an encore. It has proven time and time again to be an absolute star performer on the farm - boasting radiant, electric pink petals, stunning geometric form, and non-stop blooms all season long๐Ÿ’•

Quick Details:
Variety: LeBatts Prime
Color Profile: Vibrant fuchsia / bright magenta pink with warm undertones
Highlight: High yield, incredible stem length, and unbeatable garden presence

๐ŸŒธ Behind the Blooms: Colour Theory Series - MONOCHROMATIC (Mostly!)๐ŸŒธ

Looking at this bunch, I originally thought it was all about contrast. But after consulting my trusty colour wheel, it turns out the flowers are actually all variations of the same colour family - fuchsia, raspberry and magenta.

The greenery is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the background, making those colours pop, but the real secret is that the blooms themselves are remarkably similar in colour.

Apparently this is called a monochromatic colour scheme.
(The second bunch is probably more technically correct!).

I call it "buying multiple flowers that are basically the same colour and being very happy about it." ๐Ÿ˜œ๐ŸŒธ

๐ŸŒธ Behind the Blooms: A Winter Colour Theory Series ๐ŸŒธ

I'll start with a confession: I'm not a florist (and professional florists may be about to cringe ๐Ÿ˜œ), but I do enjoy understanding why things work.

While flower farming appears to be a wonderfully chaotic endeavour, flower farmers know there is far more strategy and planning involved than anyone admits. Beneath all those beautiful blooms lurk colour relationships, design principles and, in my case, an alarming number of spreadsheets. Or maybe I've simply invented a planning framework for buying more dahlias.

As I've spent the winter months flicking through photos from last season, I've decided to start a little series revisiting some favourite blooms and farm bunches and exploring the colour theory that sits behind them.

I'll share some of the combinations I loved most and unpack what might have been drawing me to them all along.

And if you're currently planning your dahlia purchases for next season, perhaps you'll discover that there might be a little more strategy behind your flower shopping habits than you'd like to admit. ๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŽจ

๐ŸŒธ Dahlia Sale Season Has Me Reflecting... ๐ŸŒธ
As everyone starts building their wish lists and refreshing their browsers in anticipation of the tuber sales, I've been looking back through some of my favourite blooms from last season.
It's always the same story. You carefully research varieties, compare photos, debate colours and convince yourself that this year you'll be selective...
And then flowering season arrives and you're reminded that every single dahlia has something special to offer. ๐Ÿ’•
Some steal the show with their colour. Some win you over with their form. Others become favourites because they are prolific, reliable or simply make you smile every time you walk past them.
This reel is a collection of some of my highlights from the season gone byโ€”blooms that stood out, surprised me or earned a permanent place on next year's planting list.
The trouble is, the more I look back, the harder it becomes to choose what to buy next season.
Because at the end of the day... they're all beautiful. ๐ŸŒธโœจ
So tell me, what's the dahlia on your must-have list this year?
