To everyone who attended our Gundam 1st Anniversary event tonight, firstly I want to sincerely apologize. Despite not working the front counter that often, I absolutely love organized play. It is the reason why I work so hard and I am lucky to have the honor of being able to do that everyday. That being said, I really missed the mark with this one.
I very much misjudged the expectation of the community for tonight’s 1st Anniversary Gundam event. I had applied the same structure we used for Dragonball Super Fusion World and One Piece to this Gundam event. I did not recognize that different Bandai communities are different and I incorrectly applied a one-size-fits-all approach to this event.
I have also noticed that I have also not created an effective and/or anonymous feedback method to allow me and my team to make improvements or adjust events to community expectations or wants.
For not meeting your expectations tonight, I sincerely apologize. I have spent a solid amount of time tonight to hear as much feedback as possible and I have been highlighting the core problems we need to address moving forward.
Firstly, we will be implementing a page on our website where our community can anonymously provide feedback to us. I understand that sometimes I might be difficult to reach or some people might feel it is difficult to communicate their concerns to me. I too want to work with our community members to create a great environment to play and enjoy this hobby. I want to ensure that we have a method where people can feel safe to anonymously communicate their thoughts and concerns with us. (I’ll get this programmed and linked as soon as possible).
Secondly, as a blanket policy, when it comes to events with limited participation prizing. In future we will limit event tickets to that amount instead of treating it as a top X prize with uncapped attendance. Whilst our goal is to allow as many people to attend our events as possible, it has been communicated to me that I need to focus on ensuring I effectively look after the existing community we have cultivated first and focus on growth sustainably as a secondary goal.
With regards to the 1st Anniversary event we have planned for the 3rd of October, we will be limiting that event to the correct player cap of 32 players. As this event has been ticketed for 64 players, we will email all current ticket holders with further instructions on how we will equitably reduce this event size down to 32. Specifically for this inconvenience, we apologize and hope that we can provide a fantastic experience to the 32 players who will be able to participate in the event rather than a poor experience for the 64 currently registered players for the event.
I place a lot of pride in the gaming experience and environment that we create here at Grand J Games and I know that I have a great team that are extremely passionate for that goal as well. When I hear that I fell short of that, it weighs very deeply on my heart and I want to do everything that I can to ensure it doesn’t happen again in future. I apologize for our mistake tonight and I hope I can prove to you with our future actions and events that we will always put the community experience first and be a better store for you all.
