Have you heard of Salcombe fruiters?

Salcombe fruiters were schooner sailing vessels built in Salcombe in the 1800s. Not only were these hand-built ships the fastest of their day, with their copper sheathed hulls and an ability to sail close to the wind, they were able to carry cargos of highly perishable fresh fruits and spices from all over the world to England's ports.

We loved the story of these boats so much that we had a hand-painted sign created featuring the iconic Salcombe fruiter. A fantastic piece of Devon history.
