Took the pride out for her maiden voyage today after working on her for the last 2 months.It was hard work today fishing top end of westernport. Up at 4.30am and only just home now but after about 9 hours of nothing but small flatties and a barracouta, luke finally hooked into this beauty to open his snapper acount for the season! 5kgs and 73cms to the tip. The hard work paid off in the end and even though the fishing was slow and we battled some winds this morning, the day ended with some glassy conditions and a beautiful sunset! Great to be back on the water.

As part of the weekend, we’ll be running a fundraising raffle for club members, and we’re reaching out to our wider Fish for Brains community to see if anyone would be willing to donate a prize.

Warneet Fishing Club has over 150 active members.

It could be fishing gear, vouchers, merchandise, services or anything else that would make a great raffle prize. Every donation will help us raise more money while supporting an important cause that means a great deal to both Fish for Brains and the Warneet Fishing Club.

Was shown this video tonight from a mutual friend and wanted to share this message as it resonates with us. Starting at 8 mins 45 secs Dan has a great message worth sharing regarding getting kids into fishing. I personally have experienced this in my time in youth work too. Check it out and if you know some kids doing it tough, consider putting a rod in their hand.

Our Pride 195 before and after.
We've been working hard on this boat every weekend and more for the past 2 months! Its a been a long haul - as we got stuck into it we kept finding more to do but we are very happy to get to where we have!
Luke has been an absolute legend! Working full time and still putting nights and weekends into this boat project, doing a lot of the hard work.
Now she's basically done. A few finishing touches and motor work and hopefully we will be out fishing this weekend!

💛 TODAY IS R U OK? DAY 💛
Today is a reminder to ask a pretty simple question that can sometimes mean a hell of a lot:
“Are you OK?”

The latest ABS figures show that 3,326 Australians died by su***de in 2024. More than three quarters of them were men.
They're not just statistics.
They're dads, sons, brothers, partners, workmates and mates.

At Fish for Brains, mental health has always been part of what we're about. We have lived experience and know what its like to struggle and be there for each other. We know fishing can give us an escape, some quiet, a laugh with a mate, or a few hours where everything else going on in life doesn't feel quite so loud.

But sometimes we need more than that.
So today, check in on your mates. Especially the one who's gone a bit quiet, and even the one thats quick to say everythings ok.
And if you ask “Are you OK?”, be prepared to actually listen to the answer.

You don't have to fix it.
You don't have to have the right words.
You don't have to be a counsellor.
Sometimes just knowing someone genuinely gives a s**t and is listening can make a difference.

Boat Restore Update; Last weekend we started putting things back together in the cockpit, got the new inner gunwale walls in, ran some the cables for underwater lights and deck wash, and installed the new steering kit.
We figured we need to accelerate progress if we are to be back on the water asap so tonight we managed to put the electrics back together and prepped for another topcoat (weve been challenged with paint due to atmospheric conditions but have made arrangements to garage it this weekend and get the final topcoat on). Still a list of things to do but its getting smaller. 🤞
