Pop-It Repeated Reading

Repetition can be hard work. We love to use this pop-it board with our disCARD consonant clusters packs for repeated reading.

In the beginning, students need lots of time to work on the skill of blending to read. We use quick games and activities to develop fluency. Games like this will give students lots of exposure to previously taught sounds and spellings.

We often underestimate the amount of repetition needed to master new learning and skills. Beginning readers need repeated practice to build skills and knowledge.

💥Here's how💥

There are no new words in the pack.

We play this game at the end of a session.

We also play in the classroom. This game is one of the activities students can do before the class starts. It is also left out for students to play once they have finished set activities.

Just like partner reading activities, we play together first before students play together.

Students take turns turning over cards.

They read each word.

They pop as many sounds as in the word.

They carry on turning cards over until they have popped their side of the board.

PLAY 🍦
My two are absolutely obsessed with playing makeup and dress ups at the moment!
As soon as they have friends over, especially littler, easy to convince to have their makeup done friends, they head straight for the dress ups and the makeup!
I use to loathe play with makeup!
But since we came across the beautiful no nasties play makeup, We are all so much happier about this type of play!

Back to School nerves 😟
My littles always get the back to school jitters after a holiday break. The anxiety sets in the night before and they start to vocalise their worries. We talk through it and think about all the fun things ahead for the term.
I find plotting things on the calendar is a really helpful visual and a nice distraction 🗓
Once they’re back on school grounds and they see their little friends faces beaming, they beam straight back! 😃

These poppit wristbands are also a wonderful tool to ease the anxieties of returning to school. Simply wear on their arm and fiddle that anxious energy away. Send them to school feeling all Zen 🧘‍♀️🧘
