There was a time when Arms Reach was the most exciting band in Australia. It was a pretty common occurence for a carload of locals to do the 10 hour drive from Brisbane to New Castle / Sydney / Wollongong to catch them play. So many memories of doing that drive and those weekends in greater Sydney. Anyway, Arms Reach always killed it. Energetic, political and rooms full of kids going berko. What more could you want?

We got afew of the 2xcd with a Dvd that has everything they recorded plus a pretty wild live set. The live footage has the same spirit as some of the best recent Nambour shows.

Totally essential package for anyone with any interest in Australian hardcore.

Gig announcement.
You may have notice a slowing down of gigs in Nambour. The Old Ambo has become busy with artists, comedy and performing arts and its difficult to get a date booked. Small Change was rocking for abit but the building is about to get knocked down. But as DSB (Defience of S**t Bastards) say No Fight No Get. After hours of high stakes negoiations the Nambour Bowls Club has agreed to host a show.

18th of Sep PURE MASS are coming up from Sydney joined by LEAKER Raw Impact and ASBESTOS.

Show is all ages. With a bar. Please dont byo or drink in the carpark. Respect the venue so more shows can happen here.

Jello Biafra has said often that while the UK mainstream had more of tendency to embrace punk and underground music, the USA shunned it. It could be said the UK co-opted punk (hello 2nd/3rd lp of every classic Uk punk band), America pushed it underground. Like a neglected child Americian punk mutated and got nasty and developed hardcore and invented a diy underground network. While the Uk had pop darlings like The Cure plus more respectable outfits like Bauhaus and Sisters of Mercy, America got.....Christian Death. A gnarled and ugly version of goth. Much more sinister and aggressive and blasphemous and just wierd . Just look at the photos of the members. I remember finding this record as a teenager and just stairing at the cover thinking this is a cursed artifact and bringing it home could be a major mistake. It wasnt a mistake. It didnt summon any demons. And while it was never on high rotation it was still appreciated when it was pulled out and survived several record collection culls. And I still wonder what was going on in the minds of Rozz and Co (Rikk Agnew of Adolescents no less) when making this album?

I was obsessed with this movie called The Backrooms. Modern movie. You've probably seen it. There's a whole lore around the movie. Ive spent hours listening to youtube content about it. I think in some sub conscious way trying to understand the movie is a metaphor for understanding the modern condition. Theres, like, another dimension that is trying to copy our dimension. But it glitches and gets it wrong and everything is odd and uncomfortable.
I saw Chrome Cell Torture last night and it felt like watching a band that had been copied by this dimension then sent back to our world. They were really really great, hardcore, postpunk but with the aggression of hardcore replaced with some etheral uncomfortable presence. Like when Amebix lived in a mansion on the moors with nothing but drugs, horror movies and Motorhead, Crass and Hawkwind records and emerged with some corrupted punk dna and invented crust punk. But sort of floated above it like some plague angel.
We got a 7" and lp by Chrome Cell Torture and recommend you get them and roll with the vibe.Is it pleasant? yes. sort of. But it feels like a new thing has been invented here. That can be scary, but you gotta brave because its worth it.
