The beginning of the month brings another awesome book club and last night we met to discuss October's book club pick: The Girl with Seven Lives by Vikas Swarup.
Our readers were swept up with the fast pace of the book with some finding it quick and fun while others found the writing voice a little difficult to connect with. People had fun discussing which of Devi's seven lives was there favourite, and which bit of revenge was most satisfying in this scathing indictment of class inequality and rich privilege.
This month's exciting new read is Emily St John Mandel's Exit Party. In the near future, the United States of America is at war with itself. Amongst it all, Ari, newly released from prison, attends a party with her friend Gloria, celebrating the lifting of curfews in the new Republic of California. But something is wrong. There are extra people at the party, people who are already there, and by the end of the night, the host has mysteriously disappeared.
