Supporting Customers Impacted by the Situation in the Middle East

We know many of our customers are being affected by the current situation in the Middle East, including those trying to stay connected with family, friends and colleagues. Our goal is to make it easier for you to reach the people who matter most.

Here’s how we’re showing support during this time:

Postpaid mobile customers
The cost of calls, SMS and roaming usage to and within selected countries in the Middle East will be credited back to you. These measures apply on eligible postpaid mobile plans from 28 February 2026 and will remain in place as we continue to monitor developments.

Prepaid mobile customers
From 3 March 2026 until further notice, calls to selected countries will be free without needing an add-on.

On 10 February, students celebrated Safer Internet Day with awesome workshops from the Optus Digital Thumbprint Program. Our facilitators were in school across the country, and we ran a special online event for primary students. They even scored a surprise visit from the 2025 Supercars Champion Chaz Mostert, who jumped on the call to share his inspiring No Social Hate campaign ahead of race weekend Walkinshaw TWG Racing 💬💙

To support more customers in the region, and in response to evolving circumstances and customer needs, Israel and Kuwait are now included in the country list outlined below.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and review the list of supported countries, providing updates as circumstances change.

As a result of recent events, we understand this is a distressing time for customers with family and friends in the Middle East, and those travelling in the region.

We are supporting our postpaid customers by:

● Crediting international calling and SMS charges for calls from Australia to Bahrain, Iran, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates that are made from 28 February 2026 until the offer is withdrawn.

● Crediting international roaming charges for roaming usage in Bahrain, Iran, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in the period from 28th February 2026 until the offer is withdrawn.

Tour De Pride is Optus’ guide to the places and spaces where LGBTQIA+ pride has lived, fought and flourished. In 1978, what began as a night of celebration and peaceful protest in support of global q***r rights was met with violence and mass arrests right here in Kings Cross. Access to mobile connectivity has become essential for participating fully in daily life, yet many people in our communities still go without.

Through the Optus Donate Your Data program, organisations like LocalKind Northern Beaches are helping close this gap by transforming unused data into vital support for people experiencing hardship.

With donated data, LocalKind can provide free calls, texts and data to those experiencing domestic and family violence, homelessness and food insecurity – enabling them to access essential services, apply for jobs, stay connected with family and support networks.

Today is Safer Internet Day 2026. This year’s theme is all about “Smart tech, safe choices,” specifically looking at how we navigate the world of AI. Just like in racing, technology is moving faster than ever, and we need the right skills to stay in control.

I’ve seen firsthand how tough it can be to deal with cyberbullying and online pressure. That’s why I’m proud to continue my work with Optus and the Digital Thumbprint Program – and today delivered . We want to make sure every young Aussie has the tools to spot scams, use AI responsibly, and—most importantly—be kind to each other online.
