Why Facing Your Bearing Surfaces Matters

When you’re installing bottom brackets, headsets, or any bearing system, the surface they sit on is everything. Facing the bearing seats ensures both sides are perfectly flat and aligned — and that makes a huge difference in how your bike feels on the trail or road.

Had a lovely bloke’s bike in today, and it definitely needed some love. The drivetrain was packed with grime, old l**e, and a chain that was well past its prime.

A full clean, proper gear adjustment, and a fresh chain made a world of difference — but what really matters is the attention to detail.
Every bolt checked. Every pulley cleaned. Every gear indexed perfectly.

Using the right lubricants is just as important. The wrong l**e can attract dirt, wear your drivetrain faster, and leave your bike feeling rough. The correct l**e keeps everything running smooth, clean, and quiet.

Here’s a quick before & after:
Before: Built-up grime, contaminated l**e, worn chain and noisy shifting.
After: Clean drivetrain, crisp gear changes, correct chain tension, and the right l**e applied properly.

It’s the small details that make your ride feel brand new again. 🚴‍♂️✨
