📣 Expressions of Interest Now Open – Come join an SA Voice Advisory Committee.

The South Australian First Nations Voice to Parliament is looking for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who want to have a yarn, share your stories, and help speak up on the things that matter to our communities.

We are inviting people to apply for one of our four Advisory Committees:

🟠 First Nations Elders Advisory Committee
🟠 First Nations Youth Advisory Committee
🟠 Stolen Generations Advisory Committee
🟠 Native Title Bodies Advisory Committee

These committees help bring community voices, lived experience and cultural knowledge into the work of the State First Nations Voice. This helps make sure our advice reflects the many voices of First Nations people across South Australia.

If you have community knowledge, life experience, or ideas to share, we encourage you to apply.

Week 3 of KYW Wilto Willo Community-led Research Yarning Circles, about Families & Communities Truth Telling…to help reducing Aboriginal Children and Young People in South Australian Out-of-Home. Today was yarning while weaving, KYW from Adelaide supplied starters for community and I made a fresh batch of Barlarri Munda Rubs for everyone 🫶💙

in 1967, Australians voted overwhelmingly to change the Constitution, recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and enabling the Australian Government to make laws for them.

It was an important step, but the work of reconciliation continues.

This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, All In, calls on all of us to take part in that work every day.

National Sorry Day of remembrance, acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who were forcibly removed from their families, known as the Stolen Generations. I encourage locals to visit the Stolen Generation Memorial at Whait Reserve Port Lincoln, to gather around the yarning circle, as a place of reflection and coming together.
