2.5M or the 2.0M 6ARM? The 2.5M gives you maximum reach straight out from the vehicle. The 6ARM gives a longer corridor along it, more wall options and an extra front lighting zone. Coverage works out similar either way.

Read this before you order. The box is 2.67m long and over 30kg, so the 2.5M ships on a pallet skid to a depot or commercial address - there is no residential delivery on this one. Pickup from Baringa QLD is available, and dealer pickup can be arranged.

Lift-up tailgate? Mount it as high as you can. On some vehicles the tailgate will still touch the fabric - if that matters, the Duo 180 is fully side-mounted and stays clear of the rear entirely.

Brackets sold separately. The rear bracket sits closest to the pivot and carries the most load, minimum 1,000mm to the front bracket, and push the front one as far forward as your rack allows.

Shade down one full side, and the back of the vehicle stays completely clear.

That is the whole reason this one exists. A 270 wraps around the rear, which is great on some rigs and a problem on others - lift-up tailgates, rear doors, a rear-mounted spare. The 180 keeps every bit of coverage on one side.

Two ratchet ropes and two legs means you can tension each end independently - useful on uneven ground, or when the wind is coming from one direction.

100a DC2DC

Enerdrive EN3DC100. 100A DC-DC charger with built-in MPPT solar. $1,089.

The largest DC-DC charger Enerdrive build. 100A from the alternator and up to 80A from solar, both feeding one bank, for a maximum output of 1400W. The programmable remote LCD display is in the box, not sold separately.

Read this before you buy. Three things decide whether this is your charger.

1. Your bank has to be big enough. Enerdrive recommend 500Ah of lead acid or AGM, or more than 200Ah of lithium. At 100Ah to 200Ah a 40A or 50A charger is the right unit - a 100A charger into a small bank is hardware you paid for and cannot use.

2. Your alternator has to be able to supply it. Built for large 4WDs, utes, trucks, caravans, motorhomes and marine with high output alternators, 180A and up. Check your handbook, or ask us, before ordering.

3. The ignition wire is not optional in practice. It needs an 8V signal on the ignition start port, from the alternator D+ or ignition switch terminal 15, to switch on with the engine. Without it the unit will not come on the way you expect. It is the most common reason one of these looks dead on the bench.

Same size, same terminals, same features. The only difference is how much array they will take, so pick on the size of your roof - and leave headroom if you plan to add panels later, because the controller is the cheaper thing to oversize.

Two numbers decide whether your panels fit, and people usually only check one:

- Wattage. Go over the limit and the controller just limits its output. It does not fail.
- Open circuit voltage. Must stay under 100V. This is the one that kills controllers. Panel voltage rises as it gets colder, so check the Voc on the label for the coldest conditions you will see, not a warm afternoon.

Worth knowing before you buy:

- No physical load output on either of these. They switch an external relay instead. If you wanted to run a fridge or lights straight off the controller's own terminals, that is the 100/15 or 100/20.
- 16mm2 (AWG6) terminals, not 6mm2. Size your cable to suit.
- IP43 electronics, IP22 connections. That is an indoor rating. Inside the vehicle, canopy or battery box only - never an engine bay, never exposed to road spray.
- Mount it vertically, terminals down, clear air above and below. Full output is rated to 40C ambient. Above that it derates itself to protect itself. A 50A controller in a hot sealed box is not a 50A controller.

Both carry 8 pre-programmed charge profiles including lithium, AGM, gel and flooded, plus a user-defined option. 98% maximum efficiency, natural cooling, no fan. 5 year warranty.

What the two extra front arms actually give you:
