What happens in a foraging workshop with me?
Read a review by a participant, explaining what we talk about, what we laugh about and is it worth it anyway ;)

Thank you so much to all the people who offered feedback to my events in the past 20 years, and helped shape the workshop into a fun, empowering, and filled with easy-to-follow directions on how to harvest wild food from your own surroundings>

Yay to you :)

Read a review about the foraging workshop by Diego Bonetto. What happens, what do you learn, and how fun is it?

Foraged food is not free food. It’s a gift.

Please pay respect to resources, particularly native vegetation, as many species are struggling to cope with land degradation and climate change.
We need to look after our surroundings. Be kind to nature so that you can come back to it, others can enjoy it, wildlife can use it and the plants themselves can survive and even thrive.

Do not mistreat a plant, even if it is a w**d; we have no right to impose on them any more than we already do. Be aware that a plant colony is more than just plants. But also insects, fungi, bacteria and all the microbiology of the soil intertwined. All of which would be affected by how you treat the plants.

Treat each plant colony with care. Use your willingness to take advantage of your local resources as an avenue to build value right in front of your eyes.

There are too many humans on this planet, and it would be next to impossible to replace the fruit and vegetables you buy from the greengrocer with foraged ingredients. The best you can do is to introduce an occasional seasonal treat into your nutritional routine. And that in itself is an incredible gift for your body.

Above all, please only ever harvest where there is abundance, only ever in small amounts, and wherever possible with a clear understanding of the implications of your actions.

Walk in gratitude.

Check your backyard for edible treats!
Sowthistle is a common w**d growing all over Australia, from the tropics to Tasmania, from the desert to the sea. Including your backyard.
Sowthistle is an outstanding wild edible, much loved in Mediterranean cuisine as much as local Maori and Aboriginal Australians.
It is one of the bitter greens that brings lots of important vitamins and minerals to your diet, related to dandelion and chicory, and available virtually all year round.
It is best to eat young leaves. Today I’m enjoying it as a simple classic Southern Italian recipe: a quick boil, a little salt, lemon and oil, and that’s it.
Simple. Perfect. In your yard right now.
Great lockdown activity,

Check out the new video on .land about the amazing wild ride that has been so far.
Originated as an art project/business provocation Wildfood Store forms part of a set of initiatives spearheaded by the Kandos School of Cultural Adaptation, a loose collective of artists, farmers, academics and scientist working with Aboriginal elders and regional communities to create new, ecologically progressive way to use resources and live on land.
There are some amazing stories and projects in there, check them out, link in profile, become involved.
The future is now.
Wildfood Store operated for two years as a providore for wild harvested food plants, trying to channel farm’s edible w**ds to high end restaurants and bars in the city.
The project is now on hold due to the COVID-19 changes in the industry. The plants are now feeding the community that realised their value.
The future is now, unfolding in front of your eyes.

Hello everyone.
I just wrote an article on the common mallow w**d and wanted to share it to you all.
Please let me know if you think something is amiss or I have something wrong. It is meant to be light-hearted and for the generic audience. Nothing new here for the nerds in this group, but hopefully a good starting point for people who do not know what they have in their garden. Mallow is good, it is not a w**d. It is food and an ancient one of that. Read on>

Mallow. Absolutely everywhere. This tough plant survives serious neglect and makes it the perfect edible w**d. Stuck at home in isolation? Get to know your garden>
