We’ve been a little quiet on socials lately, but we’re still here — just moving through a big season of change. Over the past couple of months we’ve prepared our hinterland home for sale, packed up our life, made a big move rurally, squeezed in an overseas work trip, and taken time to heal after a very close call on the road.

It’s been a lot, but like so many Queenslanders, resilience runs deep. We’re finding our feet again, settling back into our rhythm, and slowly pouring our hearts into creating something beautiful.

Before Christmas, we quietly introduced our Gold label collection, inspired by warm and comforting aromas. Did you know on average, individuals contribute an additional four and a half hours of unpaid overtime per week to their work? To put it into perspective, across the year, that works out to be approximately six weeks of unpaid 'personal' time given freely to others. Six weeks! Thats enough time to enjoy a good break, exploring the world aound us, or binge on the entire netflix catalogue!

It's no secret that over time, both work and family commitments have gradually increased. Mine certainly did. Our routines become the norm according to established societal influence and habits, which for many, has led to personal burnout. How can balance be restored? By pressing pause.

Varmt Rede Feature: Blue is a color of depth, calm, and luxury.

Unlike trendy kitchen cabinet colors, blue has long been viewed as a classic. Light blue kitchens are also gaining popularity for their serene and inviting atmosphere and continue to be a popular trend in 2025

Our powder blue kitchen cabinets installed 8yrs ago, are no exception providing a vibrant personality that's sure to impress.

Our toaster was the colour inspiration for our entire kitchen. When seeking cabinets, colour selection at that time, was very vanilla, not a great range of choice. So I sourced a fabulous supplier who coloured matched our toaster to the perfect powder blue we have today.

Similar to the handles. I couldn't specifically find what I had in mind anywhere in the market. So I started with a base handle and handstitched the fullgrain soft caramel leather to add the warmth.

Handpoured concrete bench tops combined with our reclaimed bowling alley maple, really that that bespoke warmth.

Varmt Rede Feature: Slice of Bowling History

One of the key philosophies of Genji Home is to harness the charm in imperfection.

Living by our namesake interpreting to “two new beginnings”, Genji Design encourages the use of upcycled, reclaimed natural materials to create bespoke spaces.

In the early stages of our Stackhaus build, we ventured to neighbouring mountain Beechmont, to hand select timber pieces from the local sawmill to feature in our home.

Hidden away behind an old tarp, I discovered slabs of original bowling alley timber, salvaged from the demolition of the original Burleigh Ten Pin bowling alley. Waiting for a new breath of life. I knew we had to embrace this history.

This exceptionally hard timber no longer set for a timber graveyard.

After carefully removing all the years of thick yellow varish, the canadian rock maple slabs (some complete with the original pin placements) now take centre stage throughout our living and dining spaces. Dimples and all. Every piece embracing history and conversation.

The introduction of hard rock maple during the 1970's was revolutionary to the sport. These days, many lanes are now sterile and synthetic.

Our Feature wallpaper

The trend for wallpaper is hotter than ever. After taking a backseat to minimalism these past few years, wallpaper is experiencing a design resurgence. And it’s back with a bang.

One of the many exclusive features of our home is our stunning wallpaper.

As a fellow creative, I’ve been a fan of USA based dark, moody flower photography for years.

So when I saw she released a collection of 6, photo-based wallpapers just under a decade ago, Sept 2015, I knew I had to have her art in our new home. It was one of the first investment purchases before the house build got out of the ground.

In 2016 I reached out to Ash and organised the first wallpaper delivery to Australia. 8 years on from installation, I’m loving the aesthetic more than ever.

‘Dutch Love’ features in our living space, spanning a wall of 4.9m x 2.6m, transforming our living area into a cohesive design statement.

Ashleys photography work has been published in House Beautiful, Gardenista and Design Sponge, among others, and also featured in the homes of Jessica Alba and Erin Foster.
