Australian Native Landscapes Pty Ltd (ANL) welcomes the findings of independent investigations undertaken by independent environmental consultants, which have assessed PFAS-related matters associated with the company's Blayney composting facility.
The detailed and extensive investigations were commissioned following the NSW Environment Protection Authority's (EPA) ongoing assessment of PFAS detections within the Upper Belubula River catchment and surrounding waterways which resulted in factually incorrect reporting by The Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) on 10 April 2025.
The EPA's investigation has included sampling of waterways and industrial facilities in the region, including the ANL composting facility at Browns Creek Road, Blayney.
The ABC incorrectly reported on 10 April 2025 and posted an article titled โ๐ก๐ฆ๐ช ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฒ๐น๐๐ฏ๐๐น๐ฎ ๐ฅ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฃ๐๐๐ฆ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐โ prior to the carrying out of any independent environmental investigation.
According to the independent technical assessments prepared for ANL, the evidence indicates that PFAS detections identified in groundwater and surface water are not attributable to ANL's composting operations. The consultants' findings support the conclusion that the water sampled by regulators is associated with broader hydrogeological conditions and groundwater pathways separate from ANL's active composting processes. This position is consistent with ANL's earlier public statements that the PFAS detections reported by the EPA were not generated by the company's composting activities.
ANL has maintained throughout the investigation that:
โข Its composting operations do not manufacture or create PFAS compounds.
โข Testing of ANL's finished compost, mulch and soil products has not identified PFAS concentrations that present a risk to human health, livestock or the environment.
โข The company remains committed to ongoing product testing and environmental monitoring.

ANL has cooperated fully with the NSW EPA throughout the investigation and will continue to do so. The company supports science-based assessment of environmental issues and welcomes independent expert review to ensure conclusions are based on robust evidence.

ANL's Blayney facility plays an important role in diverting organic materials from landfill and producing recycled organics for agricultural, horticultural and landscaping applications across regional New South Wales. The facility processes a range of organic feedstocks, including garden organics, food organics and other approved organic materials under strict environmental controls.
