🏉 Friday night footy… a first for Milla. 🤎

New people, kids running around, whistles, cheering and plenty happening.

The more litters I raise, the more I realise that while socialisation is incredibly important, puppies also come with their own little personalities. Some naturally take it all in their stride, while others need a little more time.

After a short while, I realised being right in the middle of the action wasn't the best place for Posie and Milla. So we simply moved back closer to the car, popped them on a tether and let them watch from a distance.

It was calmer, more predictable and exactly what they needed. They were still taking everything in, just without feeling overwhelmed.

Sometimes socialisation isn't about getting closer. It's about finding the distance where your dog feels relaxed enough to learn.

For me, that's a success. Slow and mindful of our pups is far better than perfect every time. 🤎

🖤 Betty — 6 weeks old 🖤

Our gorgeous black Labradoodle girl from Nala and Loki’s litter.

There is just something about a classic black coat — timeless, shiny and so beautiful.

We have now had two little black Betty’s in our program, and it seems this name just belongs to these gorgeous girls.

She also reminds us a little of Lucy, our beautiful black Cavoodle who has been such a special part of our journey.

And for those who love a classic black coat… Lucy’s final litter may not be far away!

6 Week Health Checks 🤎

Today Polly, Betty, Murphy and Teddy had their puppy vet checks — and they were all so brave.

Camilla also joined us for her third vaccination and was absolutely brilliant, and we were lucky enough to catch up with Bruce from Daisy’s litter too.

Ill put photos of Polly and Milla in the comments below 👇

We are so grateful for the team at Modbury Veterinary Clinic and the care they show our dogs and puppies.

They have a new Puppy School launching soon, which looks like an amazing addition for local families wanting to give their puppies the best possible start.

Understanding heat cycles — Lucy’s story ❤️

I thought I’d share a little behind the scenes of breeding, because there is so much more to it than people realise.

A female dog’s cycle is a complex process, and every girl can be different. Most girls will come into season approximately every 5–6 months, although some may be longer or shorter depending on the individual dog.

Even the same dog can have different timing from one season to the next.

This is why we use progesterone testing. It helps us understand what is happening internally and allows us to make the best decisions for our girls.

Our beautiful Lucy is a great example. Lucy has had successful natural litters before, but this season we have been closely monitoring her cycle and watching how her body progresses.

Sometimes breeding doesn’t go exactly to plan. Sometimes the timing doesn’t line up perfectly, and sometimes a season just isn’t the right time. As breeders, we have to be prepared to make decisions based on what is best for our dogs, even when it isn’t the outcome we were hoping for.

At Designer Oodles of Adelaide, we don’t breed our girls every season. We choose to skip seasons because our girls are not just breeding dogs — they are our family.

Giving them time between litters allows them to recover, enjoy life, and ensures we are making thoughtful decisions about every litter we bring into the world.

Responsible breeding is about patience, health testing, understanding your dogs as individuals, and accepting that nature doesn’t always follow the plan.

Lucy’s journey is a perfect reminder that behind every puppy is a lot of planning, care, science and love.

We are excited to announce our upcoming Posie × Jeffery litter after two successful dates earlier this week.

A small litter is anticipated from this beautiful pairing, and we expect this to be a highly sought-after litter.

Posie is one of our treasured girls, and Jeffery is a stunning purebred miniature poodle phantom. Together they bring beautiful chocolate genetics, phantom potential, parti markings and gorgeous furnished coats.

We are hoping for beautiful teddy bear puppies with rich chocolate coats, white markings and the possibility of stunning phantom features.

Our puppies are raised in our home with love, early socialisation and a strong focus on health, temperament and finding the perfect families.

Expressions of interest are now open.

To apply for this litter, please complete our application through RightPaw which i will put in comments.

Sneak peek behind the scenes

Our new website is almost ready to go live, and of course we had to put it through the most important quality test… puppy approval! 🤎

The pups have been busy exploring, having cuddles, and making sure everything is easy to find before we share it with you all.

We’ve poured so much love and time into creating a space that reflects who we are — our dogs, our families, our values, and the journey we take with every puppy from birth to their forever home.

We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on! 🐾
