𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗘𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲.

West Wyalong Tennis Club is a good example of how clubs can upgrade lighting progressively without blowing budgets or replacing infrastructure unnecessarily.

Light Up Sports was engaged to design, supply and install LED lighting through a two-stage upgrade, with Stage 1 completed in 2022 (2 courts) and Stage 2 recently completed across 5 courts.

The constraints were clear from the outset:
• existing poles had to be reused
• budget discipline mattered
• performance still needed to be right

By designing around those constraints — rather than ignoring them — we delivered lighting that achieved an average of 483 lux with 0.84 uniformity, providing consistent, high-quality visibility across all courts.

For clubs, projects like this show that:
• lighting upgrades don’t need to be all-or-nothing
• staging works properly when design is consistent from day one
• strong outcomes are possible even with existing infrastructure

PROJECT: Bulli Tennis Club

Supply and install new LED fittings over 7 courts

We replaced existing metal halide light fittings with LUS 'M20' LED fittings to provide the club with a 23% reduction in energy consumption, however in the process we increased light levels on court by 150%

We were able to retrofit our 'M20' LED fittings onto existing poles, making the job quick and cost effective.

Results are outstanding with an average 620 lux on court at 0.78 uniformity over 7 courts - look at that cut off!!

PROJECT: Ringrose Park, Wenty Leagues

Light Up Sports were awarded the works to design, supply, and install new LED fittings over one rugby league field at Ringrose Park, home of the famous Wenty Magpies.

With over 70,000 members, Wenty Leagues challenged us to deliver greater than 300 lux competition-standard lighting using their existing poles and cabling. The result? A shining success.

This project wasn’t straightforward. The oval stretched over 11,000m², but by using our ‘M20’ 1800W LED sports floodlights, we delivered a powerful 411 lux average with 0.62 uniformity – comfortably meeting AS2560.2.3 standards for semi-professional club competitions, match practice and training.

The upgrade involved:
- Removing outdated fittings
- Retrofitting the M20s onto existing cross arms
- Replacing cabling from the pole bases to the new fittings
- Testing and commissioning, with audit results matching the design exactly
- Installing new eSwitch sports lighting controller to allow for on and off-site control, administration set up and usage recording

The benefits for Wenty Leagues are clear:
- Top-tier lighting for competition and training
- 10% energy savings compared to the old system
- Improved uniformity and cut-off, ensuring great visibility without unnecessary spill light

Ringrose Park now stands as another example of how Light Up Sports helps clubs unlock elite-level lighting – even while re-using existing infrastructure.

PROJECT: Batemans Bay Tennis Complex

Light Up Sports were awarded the contract to design, supply and install new LED lighting to 12 tennis courts for Batemans Bay Tennis Club.

COURTS 1 - 8
Existing timber poles and lights were removed. New 12m galvanised poles were installed on new footings to allow for new LED lighting to light 2 courts at a time, giving greater control to the club. All existing conduit and cabling, which sat atop the tennis court fence, was removed and replaced with a new underground cabling set up.

COURTS 9 - 12
All existing lights were removed from existing poles. New LUS 'M20' 500w LED fittings were installed on existing poles and cross arms and connected to existing cabling - allowing for a quick and easy installation.

The entire project has help reduce the club's energy consumption by 27% whilst providing a considerable increase in court light levels and uniformity.

Results are outstanding with an average of 654 lux on court at 0.82 uniformity over 12 courts, all with impressive cut off and low glare readings for players.

PROJECT: Mudgee District Tennis Club

Supply and install new LED fittings over 10 courts

We replaced 20 x 2000W metal halide light fittings with 20 x 1250W LED fittings to provide the club with a 37.5% reduction in energy consumption, however in the process we increased light levels on court by 150%

We were able to retrofit our 'M20' LED fittings onto existing poles, making the job quick and cost effective.

Results are outstanding with an average 650 lux on court at 0.82 uniformity over 10 courts - look at that cut off!!

Light Up Sports replaced old LED light fittings with our new range of LED lighting fittings. Whilst we were able to reduce the club's energy consumption by 25%, it was the considerable increase in court light levels and uniformity which was the most impressive. We were able to retrofit our fittings onto existing poles, making the job quick and cost effective.
