Welcome to the West Comet Mine page,
The West Comet Mine is located on the remote West Coast of Tasmania, Australia.
Around 2 klms east of the original Township site of Dundas .
The West Comet Mine was originally worked for silver and lead between 1890 - 1910, during this time Crocoite was discovered .
The West Comet Mine is known for world class Crocoite crystal specimens of the unparalleled length of 10 - 12 cm with perfect terminations, extremely brilliant , intense scarlet colour and translucent to transparent .
Crocoite and other collectable minerals have been produced from this site since around 1970 and as production continues we look forward to posting information on our progress
