A niche is a small detail with the potential to shape the entire composition.
There’s more than one way to make it feel intentional: carry the wall tile through with crisp, mitered edges; frame the opening in a contrasting material; introduce a Schluter edge and let the inlay pattern become the focal point; or layer in a floating shelf finished in an entirely different material.
The beauty is in the decisions between the obvious ones.
These moments are where material, proportion, pattern + craftsmanship come together, and where a functional necessity becomes an opportunity to add depth, contrast and character to the space.
