Of all the Laguna Agates we sourced, there was only one like this.

Laguna is known for colour.

Fiery reds. Orange. Yellow. Intricate banding layered one inside another.

And then, amongst them, we found blue.

A cool slate-blue Laguna Agate from Chihuahua, Mexico, interrupted by fine white fortification bands and a druzy centre.

But look closer.

Scattered through the blue are tiny points of light - delicate crystalline centres that appear almost suspended beneath the surface.

Against that colour, they look remarkably like stars across a night sky.

So this one acquired a name to reflect that.

Starlit Canopy.

Not because we needed to make it different.

Because amongst an entire collection of Laguna Agate, it already was.

One blue.

One Starlit Canopy.

And eventually, one collection.

There comes a point when you stop asking:

“Is this beautiful?”

Almost everything in front of you is.

You start asking different questions.

“Have I seen this formation before?”

“Would I recognise where it came from without being told?”

“Does it add something to my collection that nothing else does?”

And eventually, you realise you’ve developed an eye.

Not necessarily for what everyone else considers the best,

Rather for what you consider worth collecting.

Perhaps that’s when a collection becomes not staged, but interesting;

When it stops looking like a collection anybody could have assembled,
and starts looking unmistakably like yours.

Keep following the pieces you can’t stop thinking about.

We’ll keep finding them.

Some Nebula Agates ask you to look twice. This one rewards you every time you do.

At first, it’s the scale.

A statement Nebula Agate freeform from Obi Island, Indonesia, shaped to preserve the movement already held within the stone.

Then the details begin to appear.

Defined moss formations suspended beneath the surface.

Soft, flowing orbs moving through the Agate like currents.

And across the exterior, a secondary coating of fine druzy crystals - adding an entirely different texture to the formation beneath.

It is this layering that makes exceptional Nebula Agate so compelling to collect.

Moss. Orbs. Agate. Druzy.

Not competing for attention, but becoming part of the same composition.

Turn it again and something else takes over.

Perhaps that’s the mark of a piece worth living with.

You never quite finish looking at it.

I selected every piece in this collection. These are the 10 I would have kept.

From Laguna Agate with extraordinary fortification patterns and floral-banded Rhodochrosite, to landscape-like Madagascan Orbicular Jasper and Nebula Agate from Obi Island, Indonesia.

Choosing ten from Tides of Change became an interesting exercise.

Because when you remove what is rare, what is sought after and what somebody else might choose, you’re left with a much simpler question:

Which pieces do you keep looking at?

These were mine.

The Laguna Agates where the pattern dictated the form.

Orbicular Jaspers that reveal something different with every turn.

Rhodochrosite whose natural banding resembles something almost botanical.

And Nebula Agates that could only ever have come from one extraordinary place.

Ten pieces I selected once for Priestess.

And would select all over again for myself.
