Bringing your own containers is the best way to reduce packaging at the source.

When I first started my zero waste journey, it’s something I realized early on. But I struggled with the conversations.

How do you ask shop attendant?
What will they think?
What happens if they refuse?

Obviously, the answers are different for everyone. But, this is why I want to highlight Superior Meats on Addison. They are BYO container friendly and that is something that can make the process of getting into new habits so much easier.

Knowing that the shop you go to WILL say yes to your containers takes the stress out, and Superior Meats is definitely on board with trying to do their part for the planet.

Now, if you’re reading for the cling wrap, I’m so glad you’re still reading! Some hygiene standards require this kind of practice, and like many other times, other solutions aren’t available yet.

If they get 10 customers a day bringing their containers, that’s 10 plastic bags saved per week. 70 per week. 300 a month. 3650 per year.

Maybe there’s cling wrap to ensure the hygiene of your produce, but you changing your consumption habits is a vote for the planet you want to see.

Would you give it a try?

Curious about how it works?

Here’s Kimberly from Polished Business placing her first order a few weeks ago. 🤩

In this reel, she does a wonderful commentary about the food, breaks down the pricing and explains the container deposit. ✨💚

Disclaimer - the checkout process can be a bit slow, but it works! The website will be changing in the next few weeks and hopefully the speed will increase 🏎️!

Thanks Kimberly for this fantastic breakdown, and being a real trooper! I’m so happy you’re enjoying your meals - and the planet is too! 💚✨🙏🏼🌏

Team plastic or team metal? 💚🤪

I want to know as this week, I need to purchase more containers, and I’d love to know what you’d like to use!

Plastic has the undeniable advantage of being able to withstand the microwave, but they do stain and get damaged more quickly. Although we clean and sanitise all containers before dishing out your meal, for some, this can be a problem, even if they are squeaky clean.

Metal, on the other hand, doesn’t get damaged as easily and will not stain. They will feel as clean as day 1 for their entire life cycle. But you will need to do the extra step of dishing out your meals if you would like to reheat your meal, as metal is not safe in the microwave.

So, what’s your take?

Plastic or metal?

Yewww! Another week of yummy meals are ready for orders! 🤩

We've had a little break from tofu - but for next week, it's back! 🥳 Did you know that our tofu is made from scratch, using only two ingredients? Soy beans are soaked, transformed into milk and then we do a little bit of science to get some curds and shape everything into the final product. A beautiful block of fresh tofu. 🥹

The Loop Kitchen offers different meals, weekly, catering a little bit for everyone. Meat eaters, vegetarians, gluten-free. Head to the website (via the order button at the top of our page!) to know more about the ingredients. 🌱

What team are you on? 🌿 or 🥩 ?

I’m so proud of this nomination! 🤩

Not even a year in business and it’s a true honor to be a finalist for the ! ✨

Building a business from the ground up has been one of the most beautiful challenges of my life, and part of this journey is about The Loop Kitchen being an online service.

Online businesses don’t benefit from foot traffic, so we have to find other ways for people to find us. So, it’s one of the reasons you see me here so often!

But if you love the idea, don’t hesitate to support your local meal delivery service by buying meals, sharing with a friend and telling the world about them - it’s our version of foot traffic and it means more than you can ever imagine. 💚✨

And who knows. Maybe if the word spreads like a wildfire, we’ll end up having a store front one day to display our business award nomination sticker! 🤪🤩

I’m a little late, but I’m so proud that in May, I’ve cooked :

107 meals,
13 soups
And 28 snacks.

That’s 1.8 kg of plastic away from landfill – and 16.4 kg of plastic diverted since the beginning of The Loop Kitchen in June last year. I’m hoping to reach 20 by the end of the month! 🤩

Why does this matter?

Because plastic is produced because there is a demand for it. Although it’s extremely hard as an everyday consumer to avoid it, the less we buy it, the less it will be produced. Of course, one person going crazy with zero waste will not change much in the grand scheme of things. But if everyone did 1% better? Whoa, the world would already look a lot sexier.

One of the problems is that there’s not many solutions for consumers to help them avoid buying more single-use products. And this is why I’ve created The Loop Kitchen. This is a solution in the meal delivery service industry to do better.

At The Loop Kitchen, I’m on a mission to provide delicious meals that are convenient in your busy life, but also meals that leave you feeling like you’re doing some good in the world.

Starting small is the goal, and it’s an amazing one. There’s so many little things that can be done!

It’s the best thing ever to buy something and feel good about it and I’m so proud that my meals are one of those things that makes you feel better, but it also good beyond what it gives you.

A zero-waste meal delivery service?

Yep! That’s exactly what I do at The Loop Kitchen. 💚✨

One of the most common complaints from meal delivery service users is that there’s too much packaging.

So, I decided to take it out.

The Loop Kitchen uses reusables so you don’t have to throw anything away - just return your washed containers and we’ll sanitize them and get them ready to serve meals for another round!

Yayyy! Another week of meals that save the planet! 🤩

We've got three choices of healthy, nourishing meals (with plenty of veggies, as always). Which will be your pick? 😏

We also have on offer our well-loved sesame energy balls, and a lovely veggie soup - you can add some pasta into it to make it a more filling meal! But otherwise, it's a great nutritious option for vegans and gluten-free diets. 🥳

Oh and by the way, did you know that our broth is homemade? 🤯

Because at The Loop Kitchen, we avoid shortcuts at all costs. 🫡

Order before Wednesday 5pm via the website or the order button at the top of our page.🍋

Since I’ve started The Loop Kitchen, I’ve got the most random things on my phone. I’m not very good at keeping things tidy. 🫠

But, I must admit that I love looking back sometimes at the small moments that I deemed camera worthy. It’s often randomly quirky, and it’s digital proof that I enjoyed a specific moment.✨

I could make a food version too. There are so many photos of food 🤪 Any takers?
