Bringing your own containers is the best way to reduce packaging at the source.
When I first started my zero waste journey, it’s something I realized early on. But I struggled with the conversations.
How do you ask shop attendant?
What will they think?
What happens if they refuse?
Obviously, the answers are different for everyone. But, this is why I want to highlight Superior Meats on Addison. They are BYO container friendly and that is something that can make the process of getting into new habits so much easier.
Knowing that the shop you go to WILL say yes to your containers takes the stress out, and Superior Meats is definitely on board with trying to do their part for the planet.
Now, if you’re reading for the cling wrap, I’m so glad you’re still reading! Some hygiene standards require this kind of practice, and like many other times, other solutions aren’t available yet.
If they get 10 customers a day bringing their containers, that’s 10 plastic bags saved per week. 70 per week. 300 a month. 3650 per year.
Maybe there’s cling wrap to ensure the hygiene of your produce, but you changing your consumption habits is a vote for the planet you want to see.
Would you give it a try?
