🚀 IMO ECDIS UPDATE: As of January 1, 2026, the voluntary transition for the new IMO ECDIS Standards (Resolution MSC.530(106)/Rev.1) is officially underway. The older MSC.232(82) standard will be permanently retired on January 1, 2029, after which ALL new installations and retrofits must mandate compliance with the new rules. Existing systems installed before 2029 are exempt and can remain in service as long as they are type-approved.

⚓ NEXT-GEN FEATURES: The updated standard transforms ECDIS into a secure cyber-hub. Systems must use a "dual-fuel" model supporting both legacy S-57 ENCs and the high-resolution IHO S-100 framework (enabling advanced layers like S-101 charts and S-102 bathymetry). It also introduces mandatory cybersecurity protection for machine-to-machine data exchanges and standardized, automated ship-to-shore route sharing (IEC 61174/63173-1) to streamline port calls.
