What is SEO?
SEO stands for *Search Engine Optimization*. It refers to the process of improving a website or online content to increase its visibility and ranking on search engine results pages (SERPs) like Google, Bing, or Yahoo. The goal of SEO is to attract more organic (non-paid) traffic from people searching for relevant information, products, or services.
SEO involves several key practices, including:
1. Keyword Research: Identifying the terms and phrases that people commonly search for in relation to your business or content.
2. On-Page Optimization: Optimizing individual web pages by using relevant keywords, creating high-quality content, improving title tags, meta descriptions, headers, and image alt texts.
3. Technical SEO: Ensuring that your website is structured in a way that makes it easy for search engines to crawl and index your pages. This includes improving site speed, mobile-friendliness, secure connections (HTTPS), and structured data.
4. Off-Page SEO: Building your website’s authority through backlinks (links from other reputable sites to your content), social media sharing, and online brand mentions.
5. Content Creation: Regularly producing high-quality, relevant, and engaging content that meets the needs of your target audience and keeps them engaged.
By improving these aspects, websites can rank higher in search engine results, which typically leads to increased traffic and potential for more conversions, sales, or user engagement.
