I got a request to change the look of the tie block of the bridge. He thought the all white block was too bright. So we settled on a more classic look with 2 strips of bone and rosewood in the middle.

The "white" Alessi tuners were chosen by the customer that commissioned this spruce top guitar. I have built many guitars in shorter string lengths as 640 and 630mm. This guitar has a string length of 620mm. The sound remains almost identical to a 650mm string length. The top and bracing are adapted to the lower tension.
Have you ever played guitars with a shorter string length? It makes playing some parts effortlessly. Let me know if you would like to try a guitar like this!

It is always a pleasure to see one of the instruments you see again. It was brought in for some new strings and a silple maintenance. This guitar is particularly special to me. It is a copy of a Lacote guitar I made 3 years ago. I had the privilege to study the original guitar many times and for longer periods.

Some people ask me how I shape the neck of the guitar. It depends on what the customer wants. In this case a round shape. I first make a drawing of the shape and drawing cutting lines. I make 2 drawings, one for the first fret and the other for the ninth fret. I shape the neck to these facets and then round it off to get the exact shape. After this I shape the heel and the headstock end.

Do you prefer a fingerboard that is black or with some grain lines running through?

Both bridges are finished. Now the finish on them can dry while I finish the guitars. I finish the bridges before gluing...

Both bridges are finished. Now the finish on them can dry while I finish the guitars. I finish the bridges before gluing them. This way their dark color cannot stain the lighter top of the guitar.
