BIG RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHERIE JEFFERSON

-------Chapter 2-------
“Sister Cherie, I’m hungry.” Whined Jerry on reaching their house.
“You’ll eat when you get inside.” Cherie said. “There’s spaghetti, rice and…”
“Spaghetti” Jacob shouted running into the kitchen.
“Hey wait for me!!!” Jerry shouted running after his brother.
************* 3 hours later*************
“Your brothers had quite the appetite” Steph said, watching Jeff and Jacob sleep peacefully on the couch.
“Quite the appetite you say” Cherie said washing the plates. “That could swallow the whole house”
Both started laughing.
“You’re funny Cherie” Steph said in between laughs. “I can’t believe they finished two big bowls of spaghetti and left nothing for us.”
“Yeah all they do is eat and forget about everything in life” Cherie said as they cleaned up the house.
Jacob woke up as Cherie said that but didn’t show it.
“I’m so surprised that they are still slim even after such meal” Steph said still looking at the boys.
“Hey, would you quit staring at my brothers before you hypnotize them and rule the world” Cherie said jokingly.
“Yeah, watevs miss superstition” Steph said heading to the parlor and turned on the television.
“Hey another thing miss super power,” Cherie said stopping her from carrying the remote. “No TV until the whole house squeaking clean”
“Whaaat?” Steph exclaimed. “What kind of big sister are you”
“Oh common don’t be a big baby let’s go” Cherie said pulling Steph from the chair.
“Can I join you clean?”
Cherie and Steph turned to see Jacob awake.
“When did you wake up?” Steph asked.
“Just now” James lied.
“Won’t buy that but you can join us” Cherie said.
They cleaned the house for the next two hours, by then Jerry had woken up and joined them.
When they were done they got four bowls of popcorn, slumped on the couch and turned on the TV. Cherie looked at the wall clock. It read 8pm.
“Gosh It’s late we’d better go to bed.” Cherie said
“Common sister Cherie let’s stay up a little longer” Jerry said.
“But you’ll be going to school tomorrow.”
“No, today is Friday, so tomorrow is Saturday.”
“Okay then.” Letting them watch TV.
“Yesss” Jerry and Jacob said in unison.
Just then, they heard a loud thud upstairs…..

BIG RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHERIE JEFFERSON

My typical best friend, so emotional for nothing. Cherie thought as they pulled up in front of the shopping mall entered and began getting the required materials on Cherie’s mom’s list. It was quite long.
“So Cherie,” Steph said putting a roll of tissue in the trolley.
“Yeah,” Cherie answered looking at an attractive product.
“You said me you wanted to tell me something” Steph said.
“Oh, yes” Cherie said hitting her head softly with her palm. “I wanted to ask if you were going to be available for the next few days.”
“Okay, I am not sure.” Steph said.
“Common you’ve got to be sure” Cherie said.
“Alright then, I’ll talk about it with my mom” Steph said.
“You know what, you’re my bestest friend in this entire universe” Cherie said hugging her friend.
They did the rest of their shopping quickly. When they were done, they carried what they bought to the car but not carry them all, so they asked for help and a very handsome young man came.
“mmm, Cherie” Steph whispered to Cherie nudging her. “I see the way you look at him”
“Agh common Steph that’s disgusting” Cherie whispered back gritting her teeth.
“Alright” The young man said, interrupting and bringing their attention to him.”I’m done” He closed the boot, giving them a wink.
“Alright, thanks” Steph said.
The duo got into the car and headed to Cherie’s house. They got the items they had bought out of the car and to their respective locations in the house. After they were done, they fixed themselves a bowl of stew and chips and switched the TV on.
“You were talking about me coming over?” Steph said putting a chip in her mouth.
“Oh that,” Cherie said “I just need help with taking care of my brothers and the house”.
“Just need help?” Steph asked “from whom?”
“Not just any help from anyone but from my bestest friend” Cherie said, smiling.
“Awwn thanks.” Steph said hugging Cherie.
“You’ll have to tell your mom then” Cherie said breaking from the hug.
“OK” Staph said taking out her phone.
She dialed her mom’s number and Cherie went to get a glass of water from the refrigerator for herself. As she was coming back, she heard a loud shriek and saw Steph running to her with smiles to her ears.
“W..what’s wrong” Cherie stammered
“First of all,” Steph said trying hard to contain her smiles but could not, “my mom just won a fat and juicy contract and would be opening a new branch of her business in China.”
“eeeeeee” They both shrieked, holding hands and jumping up and down.
“Two, I’m going to be staying in campus next semester” Steph said as they then had another round of shrieking and jumping.
“Third and last of all, my mom has let me stay.” Steph said.
“Woohoo” Cherie exclaimed, doing a little dance.
“I feel like we’re forgetting something.” Steph said, tapping her chin.
“My brothers” Cherie exclaimed. “OMG it’s past time for their pick up and…”Cherie quickly got her keys and started to the door.
“Are you gonna be standing there or you’re joining me” Cherie asked
“Okay”Steph answered, following Cherie to the car.

This day is still getting better but this is definitely a semi bad.” Cherie thought
“This is too much for me to handle alone” Cherie muttered as she started her drive to Stephanie, her best friend’s house which was not too far from the shopping mall. She decided to call her first.
“Hey Steph, will you be free for the next three days?” Cherie said
“Am not sure, why?” Stephanie asked
“my dad and mom are travelling to see my grandma and are staying there for the next three days and they said I should stay back to take care of the house and my brothers and I cannot do that alone…”Cherie rushed out without taking a breath.
“Whoa whoa whoa” Stephanie said, stopping her. “Take it slowly”
“Am coming over to pick you up” Cherie said. “We’ll discuss it on the way to the shopping mall”
“Oh okay” Stephanie sighed, hanging up.
Cherie drove silently to Stephanie’s house, trying to map out how the next three days would be in her mind. Within next 10 minutes, she had reached Stephanie’s house.
“HONK HONK HONK” Cherie horned.
The security guard peeped out from his post to see who was horning.
“Ah. Good day ma’am” The security guard said opening the gate.
“Oh please don’t worry I am not coming in” Cherie said stopping him from fully opening the gate. “I just came to pick Steph, we’re headed to the mall.”
“Okay” The guard said closing the gate. “I’ll go inform the mistress of your arrival”
The guard left into the gigantic mansion and in a few minutes, Stephanie was out.
“Hey babe” Stephanie beamed.
“Hey”. Cherie answered, starting the car.”You’re paying this time”
“Ah common” Steph whined. “We didn’t buy much last time.”
“Yeah watevs, that point has no point and no matter what you say you’re paying” Cherie said in a very serious tone.
“For realsies?” Steph asked in a moody voice, trying to search Cherie’s face.
“For realsies.” Cherie said not sparing Steph a glance as she started crying
“Ha” Cherie burst laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Steph asked sniffling and cleaning a tear that was falling down her cheek.
“I totally got that face out of you. Cherie said banging the steering wheel. “Seriously, you have to be sure of what you’re crying about before crying about it”.
“I.. I’m not crying I… I’m j…just” Steph stammered.”Just don’t do that again.”
“Oh okay” Cherie said snickering.

BIG RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHERIE JEFFERSON

As she turned to see what had happened,
"What was that?"James asked
"Pots" Cherie said relieved.
"Oh please Martha" James said jokingly, "I do not want pieces of broken plates in my food"
"Common dad please please please" Cherie begged, bring James' attention back on her.
"Cherie..." James began but was cut short.
"Food is ready everyone." Martha announced
"Because you won't have to" Martha answered.
"What?..." Cherie said
"Now why don't we eat quietly?" James said "and Cherie, there is no school for you today so you would take your brothers to and from school"
"Awesome" Jerry shouted, jumping up and raising his hands in the air.
"No school?"Cherie exclaimed. "Awesome but why?"
"There was an announcement about a reconstruction on campus and there wouldn't be school for the next two weeks"
"Whoa" Cherie exclaimed
"Not so fast" Cherie's mom said. "You would be doing some shopping for me"
"Seriously mom" Cherie said smiling.
"Here, the list" Martha said handing the list to her.
"And the car keys to the other car" James said handing her the keys to the car.
This day just keeps getting better and better.
The family then ate in silence. Cherie's parents went to work and she took her siblings to school.
"Take care of yourselves guys" Cherie said as she dropped her brothers at the school gate.
As she was driving to the shopping mall to get the things on her mom's list, her phone rang. It was her dad.
"Hello dad" Cherie said.
"Yeah, Cherie" James said
"Wha..." Cherie stammered "and we would be alone?"
"Where's the girl that had been ranting about staying in campus?" James said teasingly.
"Now why don't you prove that."
"I will" Cherie said. "But can Steph come over?"
"Yeah but no crowds no parties... I trust you" James said cooly and hung up.
This day is still getting better but this is definitely a semi bad. Cherie thought aloud...

BIG RESPONSIBILITY FOR CHERIE JEFFERSON

********Verse 1*********
“rrrrriiiinnnnggggg” rang Cherie’s alarm clock which she stopped with a bang.
She yawned and stretched and just….smiled? weird an omen of a good day. Cherie thought
She got up and started preparing for school. While doing so, her nose got hit by a delicious, mouth watering aroma that stirred up an unknown hunger in her threatening to burst her stomach. She then increased her pace of preparation and followed the delicious, mouth watering aroma downstairs to the kitchen where she met her mother, Martha.
“Morning mom” Cherie greeted with a peck on her mom’s cheeks
“Morning dear” Martha replied, shifting in unison to Cherie’s neck to prevent her from seeing what was inside the pot.
“mom” Cherie whined “please let me see”
“not now” Martha said smiling, " it's a surprise"
"surprise for whom?" Cherie asked.
"That's part of the surprise." Cherie's mom said with a grin. "why don’t you help me arrange these dishes on the dining table"
"hhmmm. This makes me hate surprises."Cherie said as she took the dishes to the dining where she met her dad, James who as usual had buried his head in his newspaper.
“Morning dad” she greeted, arranging the dishes on the table.
“mmm hmm” James replied without raising his head from the newspaper.
She was about to strike a discussion with her dad about her living alone in college when her young twin brothers,, Jerry and Jacob jumped down from the stairs into the kitchen.
"mom whats cooking" they said as they tip-toed and stretched their necks to see what was cooking.
Cherie didn't care about them and tried to concentrate on her discussion with her father.
"Dad you know am old enough to stay on my own in college."Cherie began
"Cherie baby, we've gone over this before."James said raising his head from his newspaper. " you can't".
"But da..." Cherie began again but was cut short by James who looked at her with a stern face and then snapped his finger. Double weird what is wrong now. Cherie thought.
Then from behind,
***BOOM BANG BOOM***.
As she turned to see what had happened,…
